Meeting recap

Great meeting last night! I'm amazed and excited by all the creative energy that so many people are putting into the camp. This place is gonna pop. To recap for those not there, it's looking like we'll have around 20 campers (all truly high-quality individuals) and our overall budget should be around $3000, so the high-end for camp dues will be an average of $150 -- or $100 for the workers and $200 for members of the Politburo who are too busy or otherwise content to simply subsidize the revolution. Those numbers could drop substantially if we have a big day on Aug. 12, when we'll be selling our shit at the Alamo Square Swap Meet (please contribute what you can to this garage sale) in the morning and throwing a big outdoor dance party on Hunter's Point in the afternoon and evening (Smoove should be posting info on this very soon). We're also renting a truck that day to facilitate our plans and will be on the lookout for free couches. We really need all hands on deck that day to maximize our efforts and work both events. If all goes well, we could offset almost half of our camp costs, which would be huge. Please clear your schedule that day and plan to help out.
Other cool stuff to emerge last night were Scott B. Free's amazing designs for the facade and maze (which he and the art committee will be working on this weekend), Capt. Bastard's trippy custom lighting designs for the chill dome, the addition of the hot and cool duo of Jen and Joan, and lots of big infrastructure advances by our supercharged comrades Dash, Mouk, Splinter, and Smoove.
I'll include this and more in a group e-mail once I've updated the list with the newbies addresses tonight, but please stay tuned and be ready to work for the revolution on Aug. 12 (that just a week from tomorrow). And as always, feel free to drop me a line if you have any free time and need something to do. We leave in just 22 days.

Here's some questions and answers from Dash and me, as posted to the group e-mail:

Below is the post from Dash, just in case everyone didn't get it. To answer a few questions, I'll be there on Wednesday and nice work to the art subcommittee. I'll bring a couple canvas drop cloths with me. If anybody has any access to cheap drop cloths, get them because we can always use more. We also have a few power strips that the camp could use, and we have half a storage unit for carpet and couches, but our garage is pretty full until Rosie gets her campaign space, although I might be able to rearrange some stuff and make room for a few couches and some carpeting. Donnie, are you able to get anything else in your garage?
Regarding the garage sale on Saturday, we may have to think about that. Mouk found our there's a $50 fee attached to it, and I've been having second thoughts about whether it's a good idea to do the sale on the same day we're doing our dance party, particularly because nobody has really stepped up to say I have a bunch of stuff and would love to lead our sales team. But I'm committed to giving this coming weekend over to Ku De Ta, so I'm up for anything if we have the will to do it.
On a somewhere related note, the question has come up whether we're still accepting any new members. Donnie has three friends from LA that he's vouching for as solid people, and three guys from the SF Party Party who I know and like were asking about camping with us. I'm inclined to let our numbers rise to 25 or even 30 because I think we have the space for it and we could use both the money and the help. But I'd like to get some consensus from the group, or to at least hear the opinions of others.
Finally, Smoove, we need to get the details and directions for Saturday's party so we can start distributing it.
Also, Carla, I haven't yet added Jen's e-mail to the list, so can you forward all this to her?

We will be meeting at my house on Wednesday evening around 6:30 or as soon
    >as you can make it to paint the fabric for the facade. Mouk got us hooked
    >up with the scaffolding right at our budget for 4 sections of 15 foot high
    >for $380. Nice work! That includes the railing which is about 2 feet, I
    >think...thus we should paint the letters no more than 13 feet high in red,
    >as per Scott's design. We bought stretchy fabric for the doorways. I have
    >quite a bit of masking tape for making the letters out. If someone has a
    >dropcloth, that will help to keep the paint off my garage floor. I have a
    >couple of plastic ones in addition. Scott has rollers and I have a couple
    >also, so we are probably good on that. I also have lots of beer!
    >
    >Carla,
    >I know you guys have about 75 (yards or feet) of muslin, but I assume that
    >it will nee to be sewn together before we paint it. Do you know how wide it
    >is? Can that be done before Wednesday. I know that I can help you. Can
    >anyone else help? Do we have enough or do we need to get more muslin?
    >
    >Scott has a grommet gun, so he just needs to get grommets and I have zip
    >ties to attach them to the scaffolding.
    >
    >In addition, there are some things that we will need to round up and we
    >should not have to purchase. We need the following...
    >-Long orange extension cords (50' or more) I think we have 4 or so, but
    >need more.
    >-Shop lights (approximately 6)...the ones with the silver aluminum shades
    >so that we can light the facade/letter from below.
    >-Power strips. I have one, but we may need up to 10 of these for various
    >things.
    >-We will also need to figure out how to secure the scaffolding at some
    >point so it doesn't come crashing down and kill some dirty raver or stinky
    >hippie.
    >
    >Scribe,
    >Do we have all the shade structure figured out?
    >
    >Who is getting the waste water tank? I would like to know that we have this
    >figured out also if we are doing this.
    >
    >Peeps!...we only have 20 days left! Time to quit talking so much and to
    >actually start doing stuff so we can all relax just a bit before we head
    >out there to secure our place in Hades!
    >
    >We will get another e-mail going to discuss the garage sale and party and
    >renting a pickup to scrounge sofas and pick up carpet (Scribe/Rosie, can
    >this all go in your garage?)
