  I don't know any salons per se but, I'm involved with a group that does events on a semi-regular basis called the LA Art Lab. Most of the people in the group live on the west side. Though most of the shows seem to be downtown.

  have a group called c3: Center for Conscious Creativity. We have a series specifically designed for Artists called ArtMind. You can find more information here: consciouscreativity.org
  
  It's Downtown and in Hollywood, too, though... sorry ;-)
