Deliver something to the temple?

I can't make it home this year for so many various reasons but I have something that I would like to have taken to the temple if possible. We buried a very good friend on Friday at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. 19 year old Navy Hospitalman Dustin Burnett was killed in Afghanistan on June 20th and laid to rest on the 4th of July with full military honors. Debbie (his mom and my very close friend) wants to send him off in a blaze of glory.............now, that may mean something different to many.........I however can only think of one "blaze" in particular. It will be just a small remembrance to carry and leave there. Would one of my Lafer's family do myself and Dustin the Honor?? At the age of 13, young Dustin wanted to be a soldier and as a hospitalman he would be able to "take care of his men".........his belief in our military brothers was his American Dream. I will be sending up my canopy with Geoff, and will also give him our remembrance to bring up there. I truly appreciate and will miss seeing everyone this year. So.........Shut Up and Drink one for me! .........will be doing the same for you!

And the critters are hunkering down, or wandering through looking for food and shelter. BIG cats around lately, they're the scary ones cuz you don't hear them coming.

The "Mom" was beautiful, she burned nicely too. Spent the evening with the tuna guys, drank a little, laughed a lot. Both of us "birthday girls" GAVE spankings, and life was good.

Off Playa Gifting

Is your wildblue.net still a good email addy??? Just wanted to let you know about my delay onto the playa since I also have a wide load to manuever! Maybe with the RV's we can create a good windblock and have some protection for the tenters?? I had planned on being there Tues am but will be delayed into Tuesday evening. (early eve., not sure) Being so close to center camp and lots of traffic, trying to pull that rig in with all the pedestrians may be a challenge. What do ya think, attempt it no matter what time, or just park on the outskirts and wait til am?? I plan on being there for the greeter shift.

As the majority of you know: The B.L.O. is a fair, upstanding, wholesome organization, who's sole purpose is, to ensure the safety and well being of all participants of Burning Man . this year the senior ranking officer (JohnBoy) will not be apart of the burning man experience; BUT he has graciously built a re-bar puller for the camp...... and if I understood the official ordinances correctly, the B.L.O. has the "obligation" to ensure that no camp shall have goddy, unsightly, toe breaking re-bar exposed! So now we not only have the means to protect our local community, from themselves (and others), we have the fortitude and compassion to make the playa a safer place for all! OH; the penalty is still, "SPANK OR BE SPANKED"..................................... unless some other form of "punishment" is substituted (per statute BLO-OU812?!).

A Scooter In Camp.

Not necessarily asking permission but this a notification for our group. From what I've read, motor scooters aren't looked at in the best light at burning man. Since Brendan is somewhat of a special needs case in mobility (yes, he can ride a bike but the exertion can be over taxing on his heart) we have purchased a new stand up "dirt dog" scooter that has a gas motor. We've been assured it is a quieter model as far as noise. I'm hoping for your understanding in bringing this into the camp so that he can enjoy his visit that week as well. We will properly dub it, lazy ass scooter!

Am I missing anyone? Does anyone else want to participate?

Here are the options:

2 x 2 inch (which is fairly small)

1000 - $105 ($10.50 per person - each of gets 100)
2000 - $160 ($16.00 per - each gets 200)

OR

3 x 4 inch (which is a great size)

1000 - $329.00 ($32.90 per person - ea. gets 100)
2000 - $482.00 ($48.20 per person - ea. gets 200)

My preference would be to go with the 3x4 (and get 1000 - with the idea that we apply all of them personally - which mean 1000 is a heck of a lot. (or get 2000 with a few more people participating.) On all of these the actual image size is 1/2 smaller - due to printing stuff. But my feeling - given the reaction to the art work is that we'll have people coming to us looking for them and with the larger size we'll really have two (along with the medallions) of the bitchinest gifts on playa.

To work out the size - just get 2 large post-it and fold them up until you have one 2x2 and one 3x4 - and hold it up to your arm - presuming that's where most of them will go - or your ass - I guess depending - and take a look. (And come to think of it - if you're gauging it by your ass, then please take a picture and post it to the group so we can all get a good sense of what we're talking about ;-) )

Anyway this is the official VOTE announcement - so let me know.

There's also a size between these two which would cost less - but let's see where this vote takes us.

Are there any Lazy Asses in the Reno area?

hey ya LAF'ers!

So my plane ticket is bought and I have a good supply of "hello kitty" chapstick but I thus far I havent figured out how i am going to get my lazy ass from Reno to BM......or what I will do when my plane lands sunday evening in Reno.........are any of you heading out from the reno area monday and could squeeze my not so little arse in the car with you? and do you have any suggestions for where to hang my hat sunday night?

Any and all recommendations would be appreciated, obviously I would chip in for gas and whatnot but i dont think i will be in a position to rent a car. I've run into a few road bumps this month (my mom was diagnoised with cancer)which means I have had to take a leave of absence from work to keep her sane. by the time BM comes along I think I will be ready for a good long party of magnificient proportions!

i am SO excited I cant wait!!!

Feeling a bit blue in spite of all the green (wasn't that the high-school code color for horny?) In a dark mood because you can’t afford the offsets for your drive to the Playa? Paint yourself into a multi-colored, carbon-neutral corner on our community canvases or take home a personally painted postcard – but whatever you do, don’t burn them – we can’t afford the offsets either.

Graffiti Night

Ive been put in charge of rallying the troops for graffiti night, we need to determine what night we are going to have it, I will also need an articulate individual to throw together a blurb for the "What Where When," and if anyone has extra graffiti gear (markers, paints, shirts, pants, shorts, panties, smocks, capes, hats, socks, etc) let it be known PLEASE!! So, I know I suck with communication, but alas, better late than never right?... I guess I'm just really lazy... well.. actually I suppose I'm not.. that's mostly why I havn't been contacting anyone.

I just finished my last semester of school this passed April and now I'm out in Calgary (instead of Winnipeg) working a cool IT Job... ;)

... am I coming to burning man this year you ask?

F*CK YAH!.. ;P Would I miss it for the world? no way josé! ;) .. and guess what? I'm bringing some newbie's... One of them being my gf and another being my old neighbour back home... I do have a few others who are wanting to come, but until they FULLY comit, I'm assuming they are NOT coming.. because too many people SAY they'll come.. as im sure you've all seen in the past.

Thrown out to the group...........for ideas??? I'm not one to wear a backpack so I am looking for an alternative to carry/gather when out discovering and foraging on playa. I think the utilikilt is great for the guys unless there is a she friendly version. Geoff?? Putting some things into the bike basket is okay but that will probably be filled with a portable mister I am attempting to rig up. A tool belt would be probably the next best thing but have you seen those things. Somehow all I can imagine is plumber crack! Maybe a craft apron of some sort.
