Shamanistic Religions and Lores

moderated - created 02/23/08
Shamanism is based on the premise that the visible world is pervaded by invisible forces or spirits that affect the lives of the living. In contrast to animism and animatism, which any and usually all members of a society practice, shamanism requires specialized knowledge or abilities. It could be said that shamans are the experts employed by animists and animist communities. We will discuss religions and lores that people have experience with or need to know more about. Contrasting beliefs can be entertained. Herbal medicine and the psychology is definately related. Sacred drug use can be discussed but, will be frowned upon if it becomes obvious that the posting is encouraging entertainment instead of knowledge or service. Feel free to write to me to add to this description if you feel inspired. Welcome to the tribe. Would you like an ice tea? Aloha, Lamaku.
