After seeing you ladies at the BMR fire show and performance, I'm in love. And I'd like to ask a question: Can you tell me "more" of the story of your piece from the fire show? It was one of my favorites, and I felt like there was a lot more to it than I got on that night. I'll say right off, though, that I was reminded of "Macbeth"...

Tue, October 30, 2007 - 11:01 PMThanks Bo!
Hmmm...Macbeth, eh? Perhaps it's the witchiness of it.
Well, the story is roughly this:
A conjurer creates these four 'witches'. It's as if one is conjured into four separate beings.
At one point as we dance, we go into a trance. One of us (Tanja) trances more intense than the others, taking her to a different state of consciousness. She begins convulsing and she passes out, among other things.
When she passes out, we think she's dead, so we begin performing fire rituals to try to revive her. As we're doing that, a 'priest' type figure finds us, thinking we killed her, and we are put to death for it.
Tanja awakens, and laments the death of her companions.
I debated on how much to write, as I don't want to spoil any fun surprises for future audiences, and I don't want to describe it into dullness. There is also the option for the audience to interpret it in their own way as well....
We'd like the piece to speak for itself, but we still have some tweaking to do.
I'm glad you liked it though! -

Wed, October 31, 2007 - 8:13 AMI wondered if I should even ask, or if this was meant to be mysterious for other audiences. I thought it was really beautiful, and I caught this whole story. I was curious if it had a meaning to you that maybe I wasn't aware of. Thank you for sharing!

Wed, October 31, 2007 - 8:14 AMOh, and "Macbeth" because the witches were so joyful in their darkness and craziness... It reminded me of the Macbeth witches. -

Re: New Lapsus fan...
Sat, December 15, 2007 - 4:09 PMThis (story) amoung other things were exactly what, or what we were trying to capture the essence of witches in older times. Witches, who often were just women, kindships, family, sicknesses and such. ..f the idea of the old hag on the broomstick. we wanted a "more" realistic rendition of things that happened then. thank you so much for being there and liking it so well.....xoxo
