Hey, THANK YOU to everybody who has referred me and my Mac service onto your friends...
Word of mouth, Tribe and of course Craigslist have combined to turn this mild-mannered gear-head hobby
into something sometimes scarily resembling a full-fledged "business"... or at least serious busy-ness!
Yes, we've replaced dead hard drives, broken screens, brokered overstock MacBook machines, done countless upgrades, and have found happy homes for old school laptops in the under $300 range.... a lotta laptop swappin'!
Barter has been especially fruitful so far in this inspiring year of 2007, and via Tribe and Laptop-Swap i've traded Mac stuff for carpentry work, electrical service, dreadlock maintenance, desert techno on vinyl (thanks Brian!), nutritional supplements, and I even found a sublettor for my space!
And so... the nomad in me says its high time to take a break. I'm heading out to Thailand for a couple months, to work out the last kinks left behind by that bout with chronic fatigue syndrome... and the traffic accident... (last remnants of 2006).
But while i'm gone i've arranged to have a ready supply of emergency parts on hand, via a couple friends in LA:
AC adapters, batteries, system disks and hard drives.... so feel free to email me if you're in need: ekg@eklektro.net
Of course "tech support" will be a lot more difficult, as my email access will be severely reduced, though i WILL log on at least 2-3 times a week. So if you've got Applecare, of course call 1800 SOS APPLE. If you've got internet access problems, you'd be surprised how much you could learn and fix by calling your provider's tech support 800 number (and waiting on hold). It sucks, but it usually solves the problems. If you've got inexplicable driver problems with printers or digital cameras, type some keywords into Google and see what you find. Chances are somebody out there has had the same problem, and then graciously took the time to blog about it! And lastly, when in doubt, back up your work and RE-START. Hey, that's what i'm doing by going to Thailand. Clearing the cache and starting fresh!
OK, so stay tuned for last-minute deals on left-over inventory!
Thanks again, and a continued Happy New Year '007
Greg
