Bellydancer's book club

We've been talking for awhile about doing this, so in the spirit of the new year...

THE BELLYDANCER'S BOOK CLUB

Meet once a month, hosted at a different member's home each month. Potluck and discussion fun.
I compiled a list of various books we can do for this. I thought we could start with a nice solid historical base, "Serpent of the Nile" by Wendy Buonaventura. And then vote on the next one.

Who's in? What day would work best for us to meet? Thursdays? or Sundays? Another suggestions?

I figure we're all over the place, so each time we'll change to a different member's home. This way it hopefully evens out the driving for everyone. And of course there is always carpooling. =)

For anyone that is interested in joining us, message me so I can start compiling a member list. Our first meeting will be mid-feb, date to be announced shortly. I will not be posting the address of our meeting, as they will be residences. So if you are interested let me know, so I can keep you informed. Also, people can start anytime. So if right now is too busy for ya, feel free to join us when your schedule opens up.

Wow wish I could be there. I love books.

May I suggest for the next one
Dancing in the Streets; A History of Collective Joy; Barbara Ehrenreich

This book is so important to a dancers understanding of the true motives of dance!

I missed the last meeting but would love to attend the next. Is there any news on the next book? I still want to read Serpent of the Nile! Is there anyone who might consider lending it to me from the last meeting? I take very good care of books and will return it to you unharmed and uncreased at the next meeting or shortly thereafter.

        Hey Paula,

Serpent is full of fantastic photos and images that are really inspirational to have as a resource. I would really recommend getting a copy to keep in your library. It's definitely something you will want to come back to over and over again. We have an on-going list of book ideas on the Bellydance Book Club tribe. We'll open voting up this week for the next meeting.
