they are always going to be interesting takes on LCC...sadly IMO

unless you are there on a regular basis you have NO IDEA about the magic of that lil oasis in the warehouse district

I remember that guy being there on that Thursday night.....of course he makes no mention of the Hightailers or the eclectic music choices they book there nightly, but they can write about the "hula hoop girl" and the "spinning poi lady" like thats the center of all thats special about the Cafe.(no offense to Mara and Marsha)

its just odd...just like that JPL article that chick wrote

        artistic license strikes again !!

we do not always see things that are obvious.

That guy seemed really busy last week, gathering information, and I know everyone saw him.......
and could tell that he was collecting information for something!

If something got left out, or ignored, it may be partly OUR responsibility.....
we can feed the press whatever we want them to know

and it is not like we are a huge secret anymore anyway !
have ya been out on a wednesday nite lately?
There is a constant influx of kidz that say "this is my first time here"
        last nite,
the BACKYARD was jammed fulll, and not alot of familiar faces in the crowd..................

my take on this is that if you think you could write a better article, get jiggy with it and submit it to the paper !

congrats to all whom were mentioned in the article.....you have just achieved you 15 minutes of fame!

Nobody said they could write a better article...it just comes from an outsiders perspective, and thats not always best, IMO.

Personally I dont need to be mentioned nor did I want to be interviwed by the guy,but he makes the place sound liek a freekshow, which it is...but if the intent is to give the place a bit of press...it could have been better written.Thats the Editor's job...not ours.
seriously....did he really have to talk about Allens robot THAT much??

yes this place IS still a secret Cony....regardless of a ton of college kids who know they can go to a bar and do whatever the fuck they want to on Wed nights....Wed is the new Thursday to them, cause they dont do anything else at the LCC but get drunk and smoke dope. Hell they dont even pay attention to the band.(the majority of them at least) If any of those kids showed up on a more regular basis...then I would say you are right...but you arent. Personally(and this is just me here) I think Potroast and Wed nights at the Cafe are the bane of its existence, because its those fuckers who are going to get our little hole in the wall shut dpown when Sally gets pulled over with a bag full of dope in her purse and drunk off her ass. and the only reason they let kids in is because its $$$$$ coming into the bar, which is great......but then again is it?

think what you want...but those little fuckers dont care about the Cafe AT ALL.

what I mean is.....if they did...You wouldnt ever hear me bitch about shows not getting support if those kids just showed up for more than a buzz

I guess any press is good press, but personally, I thought the article was lame. Glaring omission: the regular crowd LOVES & lives for music. Ya, the inside jokes are great and we are a family, but it's the music that we congregate for & the Last Concert Cafe is our church.

I believe in the life style offered by my family at the Last Concert Cafe. It is good to share our sometimes strange ideas with so great a media as the Houston Press. As I stare at the article tonite I really am pleased with two pictures of my family Greg and Marsha. And though the article may have been brief. As you all have said any press attention is good for our message of family and love. Though they say that it opened as a whore house I dont believe the lovely spot has ever been anything else.
On another note the only thing I think they should have mentioned that the article did not is the fact that for most or all of the years the Good Lord Allen has presided over our counter is that we have only recently recieved our Liquor licenses. I am totally stoked about it.

Anyway I think they should have done more talking with Greg But perhaps when the article was written we had no license and that was why it was not mentioned.
