August 8th, 2008 is the official World Hoop Day
(and my birthday!)
and we are observing both at the Capital of Hoop, the Last Concert Cafe!
Officially from 6-9pm (mass-hooping at 8pm), we may go till close depending on the band that night :)
I'm bringing sweets and healthy drinks for hoopers, in lieu of b-day gifts, bring a dish or something to share with our hoopers. Also, bring broken or unused hoops that we can repair and reuse for the first-timers!
I've just been contacted by Lana Berkowitz at the Chronicle, so we will have media coverage!
Our goal is to spread awareness of the fun and fitness of the hula-hoop, and Regional Pride, ie. to show the world how the hoops have spread from here, and how Houston loves to hoop, Big Time!!

Though it's not a fundraiser, the awesome Annie O is orchestrating the global fundraiser for WHD. Her goal: send hoops to children whom cannot afford fitness equipment that they may excercise, learn balance and center, and get that kickass feeling when they nail a cool trick! Check her out at
