Which awesome local band is down for this? In my fantasies Samba Da or Suco or Goddesses of Funk or all three play the Last Night Parade. And the UCSC gamelan orchestra whose name I can never pronounce. And of course the Trash Marching Orchestra as well.

Who do you know who'd be into it?

Word on the street is that the Godesses of Funk might be into it if they could have a towed flatbed sorta affair with the band on it.

So maybe that'd mean going the normal way up pacific rather than the against-the-grain direction from the clock tower down. That'd also mean we could have art cars who wouldn't have to take the risk of going backward down the one-way sections of Pacific, a risky endeavor indeed.

Gamelan Anak Swarasanti is considering Last Night. They've played First Night for years. In fact, I've had the honor of being a gong carrier one year.

If you know anyone in this gamelan orchestra, tell them how swell it'd be to see them there.

The only problem is that at least two of the Anak members are also potential Trash Orchestra members. So that'd mean we need more people to join the Trash Orchestra. Care to invent a percussion instrument out of trash and recycled materials and join us?

Maybe gamelan folks, Trashestra folks and Boingestra folks could combine forces for one happy bouncing cacophony.

Maybe there could be some running around from the front of the parade to join other music makers further back in the parade. Trashestrea disperses and joins the gamelan. Gamelanders disperse athte end ofhte parade route and join the somewhat quieter boingestra. We all disperse thathe end of the parade route and hooj up with the sweeping tail to make sure we've cleaned up after ourselves. Or maybe I'm imagining an insanely long-o parade of peeps.

Will there be breakout pockets of revelry after the parade? Streetcorner buskers of trash-playing or gamelan-playing or various jaw-harp playin' trios and quartets?

Why not? Other after the parade idears?
