For years, I've wanted to have a percussion band made of trash. Cans and barrels and piping and what have you.
I'm gonna recreate an instrument I made years ago called the Canstrument. It's an array of 16 tuned (uh, semi-tuned at best) cans played with chopsticks.

Fri, September 30, 2005 - 1:06 PMI'm gonna call a Trash Orchestra build-day some weekend soon. If you are interested in marching in the Trash Orchestra, come build instruments with us.
Maybe one day in October, and then one in November. The one in Nov will likely be part of a Free Skool Santa Cruz class, which should be fun and draw an interesting crowd.
In the meantime, start gathering up materials for making instruments. PVC pipe, cans, barrels, bits of resonant metal, copper and steel pipe, hubcaps, bamboo, wire, rope, and whatever else speaks to you.
