Come, join and help build

The Santa Cruz
Trash Orchestra
build day and practice

Big Yellow House, 742 N. Branciforte Ave

Saturday, November 19th and December 17th
Noon-4pm

We'll create a marching trash orchestra in preparation for the Last Night parade. Percussion on tuned cans, hubcaps, barrels. We'll create our own homemade instruments and then practice making music together.

We dream of marching in a bone-shaking trash percussion orchestra a hundred people strong in the Last Night Parade and Celebration.

Bring materials for making instruments: PVC pipe, bits of resonant metal, copper and steel pipe, bamboo, wire, rope, barrels, buckets, and whatever else speaks to you. And bring several friends who like to bang on trash.

A Free Skool Santa Cruz class with Kris and Wes

(And later, at 6pm come to the Last Night planning meeting also at the BYH.)

Trash Orchestra Build Day was great! We built instruments and practiced a bit.

We'll be practicing at the Wednesday Farmer's Mkt every Wednesday until New Years. Probably 4pm on. Bring your trash instruments and join the hippy drummers.

And we'll have another special trash orchestra practice session 2 weeks from last saturday (Dec 3rd) at noon starting in San Lo park under the pedestrian bridge. We'll practice a bit, invent some coordination, then we'll march down Pacific to the Fish sculpture in front of O'Neils.

And of course, we have another Trash Orchestra Build & Practice Day next month on Dec 17th. Be sure and bring your trash and instruments and friends for that.

    Rico
