Re: weather report link
Tue, October 28, 2008 - 3:15 PMThis "Special Weather Statement" for the Motherlode area just popped up when I pulled up Groveland's forecast on weather.com. I'll definitely be packing the vehicle chains, just to be on the safe side...
Issued by The National Weather Service
Sacramento, CA
6:47 am PDT, Tue., Oct. 28, 2008
... CHANGE IN THE WEATHER EXPECTED TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK...
THE MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES THIS PAST WEEK WILL CHANGE TO A COOL AND WET WEATHER PATTERN TOWARDS THE END OF THIS WEEK. A SERIES OF VIGOROUS TROUGHS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE REGION FROM LATE THURSDAY INTO MONDAY WITH PERIODS OF PRECIPITATION IN THE VALLEY AND MORE CONTINUOUS PRECIPITATION OVER THE MOUNTAINS. SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT RELATIVELY HIGH AND SLOWLY LOWER THROUGH THE WEEKEND... POSSIBLY TO AROUND MAJOR PASS LEVELS BY SUNDAY MORNING.
WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS THIS WEEKEND. WET WEATHER IS ALSO EXPECTED AT THE LOWER ELEVATIONS. -

Re: weather report link
Wed, October 29, 2008 - 9:05 AMI dont go anywhere in the snow even in a snow vehicle with chains. That pass is too brutal. I will be stuck at Evergreen if it snows. It better not snow, I'll freak out! -
-
Re: weather report link
Wed, October 29, 2008 - 9:10 AMIs the snow possible just for Sunday or Monday?
And which pass are we talking about? Is it on the way to/from SoCal? -
-
Re: weather report link
Wed, October 29, 2008 - 11:21 AMI think the only major pass that may be affected is Tioga Pass, which I know some folks will be using by coming over from the Eastside (from Tahoe, potentially some coming from SoCal the scenic way). I'm hopeful (and doubt) that any other roadway will be significantly affected. : ) -
-
Re: weather report link
Wed, October 29, 2008 - 11:21 AMhmmm...I should say I'm hopeful that other roads WON'T be affected, and I doubt they will be.
GOOD VIBES ALL THE WAY, RAIN OR SHINE!!! Bring on the freaks.
