I've never really gone camping where there were any bears. Can anyone give me some info on what it's like at Las Tortugas dealing with bears? Do you see many? Is it scary? What should I be doing to prepare? Should I get a bear box?
Thanks a bunch for any info :)

Evergreen Cabin & Camping guests:
Parking is limited on-site so cabin guests are limited to two cars per cabin. This will be enforced with parking stickers so please discuss in advance with cabin mates if you are in excess and plan accordingly. Other cars can be parked off-site after unloading.
Please respect the no smoking/incense/candle rule in cabins or plan to pay a hefty cleaning fee. We recommend shutting deck doors to avoid smoke from drifting in and educate your guests so they don't screw it up for you.
Plan ahead for your cabin decorations and avoid tacks and pins and tape on paint.
Campers arriving at night should be patient as you find a spot and unload. It is a big property with plenty of space for all. Bring a good flashlight and welcome your new neighbors!
All guests should be BEAR SAFE. Do not leave coolers on decks, next to tents, etc..All food/coolers should be secured.
That is it for now. We are counting the days……
Sincerely,
BTS & Evergreen Lodge

Thu, October 23, 2008 - 3:24 PMOh no... do I have to?
I was about to say Jews weren't very fond of bacon, but I have a few Jewish friends (Who will remain nameless but you may know who they are) who absolutely LOVE bacon.
I also hear Muslims aren't that partial to it either.

Re: bears
Sat, October 25, 2008 - 10:02 AMvegetarians don't like bacon.
keep your food in the car, cabin, or trailer. i've heard stories of smart bears who know what a cooler looks like and will try to break into your car. i usually cover the cooler with a blanket so that it looks less cooler-like. i've also heard stories of bears who raid coolers and only drink the good beer. i'm not joking.
keep your cooler stocked with shitty beer and broccoli and you will remain bear-free. -
