              Sweeet!

I have been listening to these shows non stop. Thanks everyone for posting. My favorite so far is ALO late nite. What an amazing show. Allie sitting in with TLG is also great. Its like Tea Leaf Salmon. LOVE IT. They sound really good for aud. Izabella was smart to put up some soundboards, they sound really good. I wish Blue Turtle would do that, too. Its hard to comment, but BTS recordings sound almost unlistenable. I still REALLY appreciate those who took the time to record them, surely better than nothing, and for the top notch memory I will still listen. Turtle is difficult because they need good recordings for them to be fully understood, they can sound like a load of garbage if not recorded proprerly. If they would only give up a few soundboards that would be so nice. I know sdbds are not balanced, but this isnt a U2 show or REM or something, its frickin Tortugas, let some go for the fans, geesh!!! Anyways just had to vent........If you dont have super quality tapers at your show, put up some soundboards. Its in their interest IMO.

Ive been the BIGGEST Blue Turtle fan for many years and the only goodz I have are from Bobolink mostly, because Bay Recorders do their thang there, thank goodness. Its just a personal gripe and I cant help but to bitch in public. ;-)

Sam I could not disagree w/ you more about these recordings in the quality. There is nothing you can do about a crowd who feels like talking more then listening and the taper who captured these shows has top quality equipment. Second I just don't get folks on how much hype there are in SDB recordings (SDB=Sterile (yawnn). If I wanted a recording like that I would buy there studio albums. For me the ideal recording is a matrix w/ the audience portion coming in loud and clear and the SDB reinforcing the vocals, bass, snares, and mostly drums.

So what went wrong with the BTS Tortugas recordings? Was it just placement of the mics too close to chatty yappers? And is there anything that can bee done to satisfy our desire for RAD BTS live recordings?

For me nothing went wrong w/ these recordings and there is nothing you can do to improve them. these recordings captured what went down on Friday and Saturday from the crowd perspective and the mics were on a stand 7' in the air in the middle of the action. Suggestion for those seeking SDB's is to purchase either a Edirol 9, H4 or H2, microtracker and then get all adapters for cables you might need. Then get extra friendly w/ sound guy and ask as nicely as possible to plug in and get everything running and go enjoy the joy. Any one need help pm me and I will be happy to answer your ?'s. Also on LMA two bTS SDB's (10-25/26) from last year just got posted. Enjoy!
                    Peace
