Thu, August 31, 2006 - 9:12 AMHello Layla,
My name is Carri Lynn and I am a tribal style belly dancer her in Montrose, co. Your tribe came up as a new tribe listing when I signed on. I love wigs and braids and have worn both at length in the past. But I haven't done fake braids but an interested. They look cool coming out of a "hair garden". -

Re: Welcome to Layla's Locks Tribe!
Thu, August 31, 2006 - 10:47 AMHello Carri!
The pieces I make can definitely come in handy for just such a purpose. I tend to wear a few pieces or falls layered up depending on the look I'm going for or the costume I'm trying to match. Fake braids are so much fun for this because its a great shortcut to braiding your own hair.
I've got a few auctions up right now for some of these layering pieces at laylaslocks.etsy.com and I'll be posting new ones every week!
And cinnamonspicepumpkin - your locks look great - thanks for being here and feel free to post pictures in the gallery!
Thanks for writing!

Thu, August 31, 2006 - 1:31 PMI just joined because I adore you.
: D
I already have gigantic hair, but it would probably be fun to work some dangly bits into it for more of a tribal look. -

Re: Welcome to Layla's Locks Tribe!
Sat, September 2, 2006 - 2:15 AMOoh, hooray! When you do get back to San Diego, maybe you could bring some dark purple/red/black tribal falls and braids with you. (I don't think I could get away with any light or electric purples with this reddish mane.) My hair is just over two feet long now, instead of three. I'd drool over braids with crow or peacock feathers, cowries, any magic spirals you can find, or even just jingly bits. It would be a delight to support your successful business!
If you come to an Atash Maya showcase at Cafe LuLu (second Sunday of every month), you'll want to bring lots of red and black goodies along with you, and they will declare a hair party with you as its lovely queen.

Re: Welcome to Layla's Locks Tribe!
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 9:37 AMI've posted a picture of me, wearing custom color-matched LONG dreads by Layla, posing after a show with my daughter Haley. Maybe I need some blonde-and-purple dreads for the cutie. She loves purple.

Re: Welcome to Layla's Locks Tribe!
Mon, September 18, 2006 - 11:52 AMHey Layla,
I found my way here because of someone else somewhere in Tribe.net, who posted a link to your website. I am pretty new to costuming, but I think your locks totally rock. I have been doing tribal dance for a few years, and am starting to perform a little. I am not a costume expert in any sense, but I am slowly learning how to sew and how to make bellydance-related costumes out of necessity. I used dreads in my first show (see icon), but that was my first attempt. Looking forward to learning more from all the lovely people on this tribe :)
