Has anyone tried LED Heady Hoops? They are very inexpensive with lots of lights, so I'm curious what people think of them. They start at $75 for 10 lights and $125 for 20 lights. They come with a wall charger but you can also buy a car charger or a solar panel charger.

Hmm, those look interesting, and I would totally consider them, but I don't like that they only come in 2 sizes. I usually like a 40" hoop (since I'm kinda tall) so that's a bummer that they only come in 38 and 44. I wonder if he would take a custom order? But then again, what am I even talking about, I don't have money for ANY Led hoops! I must wait for my tax refund, and then I'm getting my PSI hoop!

    High all ,

Jason from LED Heady Hoops here, My myspace friend Miss Hailyn Hoops told me their were some folks on here that had some questions about my hoops and I would love to answer them for ya all if I can..

I make a 10 LED version that is $75 and a 20 LED version that is $125, both of them come with a car charger and you can get an add on home charger for $10 extra or a Solar panel charger for $20.

the 10 LED 44 inch hoops weigh in about 1.5 lbs ( some a little lighter and some a little heavyer)

at the shows and concerts I go to this year, in the camping section I will have a large solar panel capable of charging up to 25 hoops and running all of the tools I need to make them as well ( trying to get greener with everything in my life not just hoops)

most of the hoops I make are 38 inch and 44 inch ( my standard sizes) but if you would want one in a diffrent sizes I can do that as well at no extra cost but it might take a little extra time ( I would have 2 make a diffrent wire harness for it)

I can also do custom hoops if you have someting in mind that you would like, but that is gonna cost a little more.

Hope this helps and looking very forward to hearing from ya all.

    Peace and Hoops

      Jason,
When you say car charger, do you mean one of the chargers that plugs into the cigarette lighter?
My car (and according to my research, most new cars on the market) did not come with a cigarette lighter.
It came with an actual house-hold type outlet instead.
      Curious,
      Patricia

yes a cigarette lighter power port type charger, I didn't know that about newer cars, my old car is a 91 Cheavy Station Wagon ( the land yatch) and I will have to take that into consideration in future devlepoment of new hoop stuff . The House or 110V AC charger I offer is a power supply that you can plug your car charger into so it will still work.

Glad to see you on this side Jason. Figured you could answer the questions better than any other. Good luck and hopefully see you at a show soon!

I've been looking at these as well.. It's been awhile, has anyone gotten one yet?
How is the weight/balance and do they rattle?
And curious as wasn't mentioned... how do they close? Tape or some kind of connector?
Ahh.. so many hoops , it's hard to choose....

I do measure and weigh all the parts out so that the hoops weight wise are fairly well balanced.

I have had a few people complane that they are too light ( about 1.2 to 1.4 lbs) I can add extra weight to them if needed.

I use a barbed style connector and a velcro wrap to close them.

      hope this helps

yay, I got one as well recently. They are a bit light, but it's fine, I prefer hoops on the lighter side anywho..... perhaps I'm just a weakling, but eh well. It's also a bit hard for me to close them, so I usually get people to do it for me, but they are great!! definitely worth getting.

I really like mine for its weight. Im a light hoop hooper. I want to have Jason make a custom smaller hoop. The only thing I dont like is the rattle.... I wish it wasnt so noisey.

i also heard on another site that people weren't happy with the velcro closure, that it would come undone mid hooping. but... from my own experience with velcro, i'd like to see those hoops that flew open. it makes me wonder if people weren't keeping the crunchy part of the velcro free of debris.

at underground sound last summer i had a chance to use one. i noticed a lot of people had these constantly color changing hoops there, found out theyre heady hoops. they're really beautiful. shifty rainbow awesome. last summer it felt a little light for my taste then, but i'd love that now! just keep it in mind if your considering ordering. light and floaty.

They might have been careless with the crunchy part of the velcro but I have friends with these hoops and they do come undone sometimes its just annoying to be in mid flow and have your hoop fly open you know? lol other than that they look pretty good for their price. I will still always be partial to p.s.i.s though : /

love my led heady hoop but wish I had a p.s.i.

On the note of my heady hoop it does sometimes come undone you just have to keep the velcro area clean. It does rattle which is not something i particularly care for but I don't notice it half of the time. The charge stays forever. I have gone to a weekend festival and it will still light up on the last night. Another thing that worries me about the heady hoops are my friend has two, they have come undone while hooping, hit something and then stopped working. Its like the switch got jammed in the hoop or something. :( but for the most part if you take care of it, it is a really nice hoop.

well...while I don't own an led heady hoop....since I live in saint louis all my friends LEDs are from Jason...I get to see all the new colors and patterns as they hit the market...and yes...Velcro comes undone from time to time(especially during reversals)....but once you become familiar with lighter hoop...you'll find that alot of the flingin apart thing is caused by hooping just a little too vigorously....something that can also cause krinks and crinkles in any hoop.

I've not experianced another connection type that works any better....if you just love using tape, you can always just tape over the velcro connection piece.....it'll leave a little lump...but the velcro leaves a lump anyways.

i'm not here to talk trash about heady hoops in the least. i think they're really gorgeous!
but since you said "I've not experienced another connection type that works any better...." i have to talk about my led hoop from hooping harmony.

it opens up and the switch (or switches in my case) is inside, the same way as a heady hoop, but stays closed with a little spring button thing. so incredibly secure! last year at underground sound a girl with a heady hoop and i were chatting and we ended up comparing our hoops. i was really impressed that heady hoops opened up and had the switch protected on the inside! i had done some research and wanted a top of the line led hoop and i ended up with hooping harmony instead of a psi hoop because of that exact feature. no chance of it ever turning off mid flow! similarish to heady hoops, but the only time my hooping harmony led hoop flew open (like 3 times ever) happened in the first second of hooping because i hadn't closed it properly. i can't stop praising my led hoop. i've never been so in love with a physical possession in my life!

I have tried the psi hoops and i own four of Jason's LED hoops. The psi hoops are nice but really expensive! I recently got a chance to try the psi hoops that are really thin around and are great for doubles and off the body hooping. They were awesome but the girls that owned them had several problems with the plastic cracking. They told me the thin hoops cannot be taken out in temperatures below 60 F. I don't know if anyone else has experienced a similar problem with this psi tubing. Jason's hoops should be good in temps that go down to 0 F and he made me a custom hoop with thinner tubing. Overall, I love his hoops. The switch is protected and although I would not advise it, I have dropped a hoop in water and it has survived because the switch is covered. I have had the problem of the hoop coming undone when knee hooping. I will note that I am still learning how to hoop properly on my knees and that I am not pushing the hoop evenly so that may be part of the problem. To solve the problem completely I use electrical tape over the velcro. This does the trick. I love my heady hoop and for the price you cannot go wrong. Also, Jason is willing to fix hoops that have had problems although I have not had one break as of yet.
