i know i posted a similar thread on FIRE hooping, about finding the right fire hoop. but, also in the future id like to have an LED as well. I was pretty sure i was gonna go with a Cosmic Fire and go to Hooping Harmony for my LED.. but not i just saw on trick concepts that there is a Fire&LED Hoops for the same price as JUST the LED hoop i wanted. so now i dont know what to do at all! If anyone knows about the quality of these hoops, please give me some imput. I dont have enough money to buy a hoop that isnt gonna last me a while. So Fire and a LED or this COMBINED?!?!?!

Re: LED and FIRE hoop combined!!!??
Mon, October 26, 2009 - 2:44 AMHi
I haven't seen this hoop in action so this is just my thoughts.
I would think very carefully about such a purchase. Where and when would you want to use the fire hoop and where and when the glow hoop? Fire hoops get sooted up and smell of fuel. Is that going to be an annoyance or problem when you hoop without the fire? The spine holes are reinforced with an extra piece of pipe so that the hoop isn't smooth, so tricks like isolations would be difficult and whilst led hooping you may find these pieces catch on your hands and clothes (assuming they don't come off, you could ask).
The led element seems to be static lights, so nothing that changes as you hoop. And unless you want to pay extra for a custom hoop you seem to be limited to 38". But if you wanted to perform with this hoop then as the fire dies the leds will start to take over extending your possible performance slot.
So, my real points i think are:
do you want active colour changing leds? if so this is not for you.
would you mind the soot and smell of fuel on your led hoop? if so this is not for you.
how heavy is the led hoop with the spines off/on?
do you want to perform and add difference to your fire performance with the leds? In which case it's a possible.
Someone else makes one of these. Is it Superhooper? I've seen one being demoed in a video somewhere ages ago.
Personally I would want to keep my fire and led hoops totally separate so that I could have a fancier led hoop and keep the messy fire hoop out in the garage.
Hope that helps.

Re: LED and FIRE hoop combined!!!??
Mon, October 26, 2009 - 11:54 AMi thought i was going crazy! iknew i responded to this! i responded in the fire hooping tribe!
here's my response copied over here also, so no matter which you read first...
<<<<<<<<<
hey colleen! i have a hooping harmony led and a cosmic fire firehoop, so i'll speak to this some....
hooping harmony led hoops are incredible quality! one of the best quality led hoops out there. these hoops are pricier, but ask any hooping harmony or psi hoop owner and they'll tell you that it's worth every penny! i haven't personally used that trick concepts fire/led hoop, but know what i know about hooping harmony's hoops, i'd bet this isn't nearly as durable/awesome
unless of course you really really want to led and fire hoop at the same time... in which case super hoop makes an led/fire hoop also superhooper.org/superwick.html
i bet the trick concepts hoop is pretty heavy! you mentioned you were interested in one of cosmic fire dance's firehoops, well they're really light! that's what they're known for!
i think the most important thing to consider is, what do you like agbout your favorite regular hoops? if you're going to spend big money on something, you want it to be worthwhile for longer, so get hoops you'll actually use!!! what size regular hoop do you prefer?
>>>>>>>>
i thought of another thing reading this again.... i would get them separately, if you can only get one to begin with i would get a nice led hoop! i'm in new york state too. winters coming up, and an led hoop would get more use immediately. practicing indoors, in clubs/at concerts. my led hoop goes (and can be used) pretty much anywhere!. firehoop, not so much! especially in the winter! -

Re: LED and FIRE hoop combined!!!??
Mon, October 26, 2009 - 2:08 PMI agree with all that's been said so far - I was not prepared for how filthy & smelly a fire hoop can get. The thought of my beautiful PSI hoop in that state makes me shudder! You'll definitely have more choice if you buy them separately - both in LED combinations and when & where you can use them. As Sue said, it does depend on what you intend to do with them though!

Tue, October 27, 2009 - 9:14 AMThe points that have been made so far are good ones, all I have to add is that I have seen the fire/led hoop combos (not sure which brand) in action and they really are gorgeous! I would LOVE to have one one day when I can afford it! -
