parts for making a rechargeable hoop?

Hello fellow hoopers,

I'm not sure how many of you out there have tried to build your own LED hoop, but I am getting ready to attempt it in a few weeks' time. Thankfully, I have a few friends who will be helping me out, because my knowledge of building circuits, etc. is very limited. I would love to make my hoop rechargeable, but I'm not sure the best way to go about it...

I've seen that you can upgrade the ProdMod kits to be rechargeable, but for these you have to put the jack inside the hoop...Ideally I would like to add a small DC jack that faces outwards so I don't have to keep taking the hoop apart...There are instructions online that show how to make the hoop as such, but I have no idea where to find the parts. The materials list includes a 1.75 x 4.75mm plug and DC jack. Has anyone found a good online source? When I search, a lot of really confusing stuff comes up and I can't seem to filter through it!

    i've never attempted an led hoop myself, but i think they have a few different kinds of led hoop instructions on there. as well as how to make all sorts of other electronical whatnots. i'd say look around on there, or let one of your electonically inclined friends look on there and see if you can find some help about making it rechareable.

    The prodMod kits do not ( or at least they didn't) have the recharging DC jacks on the inside. They are on the outside. Those's arent hard to find, but what's more difficult is finding the correct battery and charger.

    The dc power jack your going to want is a snap-in type 2.1mm made by Philmore.

        also you can buy all the parts you need from the prodmod.com site.
        Since those parts are purchased in bulk, i dont think you are going to save much by trying to find all the parts on your own.

        you can buy the rechargeable maker kit for $50, then buy the tubing from usplastics.com or mcmaster.com
