especially when it seems that the only one with any input is the moderator.

  • I'm here, T.Paul. I just joined, and found you as a related tribe to another one I'm in. It's hard, maybe, because what is there to say? I keep Lenny Bruce in a spesh place in my heart, but it's almost something I avoid talking about because everyone who has ever walked past a comedy club knows he's the patron fallen-angel of standup. Anytime someone uses the word "fuck," s/he gets compared to Lenny Bruce. And much as I love Howard Stern, just because he has trouble with the FCC doesn't make HIM LB.

But I'm glad you started this tribe. I promise to post and will invite other ppl too.
  • i'm here because i like lenny bruce a lot, it was not easy to get his book or cds over here in germany before amazon, but i managed to get at least how to talk dirty...

it was like christmas when i got his cds via amazon.

nowadays - and maybe also when he was still alive i think most people know his name for the wrong reason. yes, he said "fuck" on stage - but for totally different reasons than most of the other so called artists. he had his finger in the open wound of hipocracy and always some salt to add. a moralist offening so called moralists. i see so many slam poets who seem to feel very hip using fuck as often as they can - but saying fuck 2005 is totally different from saying it 1959. too often boring nowadays.

and i'd really like to know what he had done to the hippie-generation if he had enough lifetime to meet them...

enough for now, but if you find one of the same skills nowadays please let us know...
