What is the difference between self-publishing and self-printing, and why are they viewed differently by publishers? I understand self-publishing is a negitive thing if you'd indeed like legit publishing firms to consider your works in the future.

Sun, December 31, 2006 - 7:14 AMWell... you could always self-publish and then not tell people later. It's not like it automatically puts you on some blacklist.
I publish in lots of places I wouldn't necessarily tell editors about if they didn't ask when submitting manuscripts. I don't see why self-publishing would be different.
