To all who find their way here, I welcome you. I came down with bacterial meningitis on Mother's day weekend in 2004. Was feeling a little tired all week. On thursday night I woke to go to the bathroom and knew I had a fever, my eyes felt very hot. Friday came and I was running a fever of 102.3. Friday night I started to get a headache. By 1130 I knew something was wrong. I had my girlfriend take me to the ER, by that time the pain was horrible. I was in the ER about 20 minutes when I blacked out from pain. I came to on Monday afternoon and was released on Wednesday.
Two weeks later, severe fever blister break out, and a loss of almost 50 pounds I was finally able to talk without pain, eat soft foods, walk with just a little dizziness, and start to feel as if I would make it.
I am an extremely fortunate person. I suffered no long-term injury or disability. I hope and pray that I, or anyone that I know ever has to go through what I had to endure.
