Since it is voting time in some countrys I would like to bring up the topic of rulership of a country.
Most of us do live in countries where a democracy in one form or the other is implemented. I could go into all kinds of other systems of rulership but most of us I think agree with the idea that everyone should have a choice.
In more native societies usually the desisions are made by a council of elders to enact certain decisions. In other tribal communities there are usually clans, who have a clan chief representing the interests of the clan within the tribe.
As it is in many countries right now we have a kind of weird situation of how democracy is actually performed. As far as I know in the US it works this way. Lobbies (interest groups) bribe or financially support representatives of the congress to have them vote accordingly to the interest of the group. In other countries its a whole bunch of different partys who are represented and vote in a parliament on facts. In most higher industrial countries (EU) the american model is more and more enacted. Representatives receive support for their interest or just gifts like free airplain tickets or something of that sort. So in common one could say the working democracy is a tool of manipulation and bribing.
What also happens is that each representative wanting to speak to a topic gets a speachtime and within this time he tries to convice the other representatives with polemics and rhetoric tools to vote accordingly to their "suggestion". Which again prooves that democracy working right now is a tool of manipulation.
How do you think democracy should be performed in a Life Beyond. Do you think decision finding is happening like that or just out of synchronicity. Do you think that living in harmony still requires tools of control. Humanity prooving to this date beeing the rolemodel of imperfection. Whats perfect for you?

Re: Democracy
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 9:42 AMI have thought quite a while about it and my personal model of democracy should work this way.
One representative is (secretly) preparing a suggestion. Without prior talks to other people about it, to maipulate their opinion. Once a council is called in the suggestion should be streight forward presented to the council. And instead of having 20 overpaid speakers put out their pros and cons and arguing about the idea back and forth the vote should be made right away. Just a Yay or Nay... or not voting.
First of all this creates spontanious and emotionally based decision finding. If a voting is only voted for by 50% of the representatives or less it wont be enacted in the same way it would be declined by a majority of nays.
Only in the case of less than 50% of the present votes the alterations should be discussed in the council. Each topic which is voted on should have something like an expiring date. Which meens that after a certain ammount of time. Like 3 months or half a year the topic has to be automatically voted on again to be fully enacted. In this case all members should vote yay or nay.
I think with this concept the decision processing would be fastening the decision process and the representatives would have to be more actively listening to the presenters instead of going for a coffee, while an "not so important" member of the council talks.
Sounds smart for you or not??

Re: Democracy
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 12:33 PMThe level of etics. Until 2011 we still are in the level of etics in credit to the maya calendar. I like Ian Xel Lungolds definition of etics:
Spontanious Decision upon spontanious situations. This is why I posted this topic about democracy which is actually a part of philosophy not politics.
