  • how bout to have some fun...party late without being shushed ;)

i do believe this was one of the quietest wars i've been to in a very very long time. i felt like i was being too noisy at nite walking down the street with the jingly bits on ;)
thanks to jivette for walking round with me aimlessly with her jingly bits!

    i had a good time tho :)
    • I like that theme!!!!
How about we set the night on fire with some poi, fans and firebreathing!?!!?!
Maybe the quiet folk all should camp together and let those of us who want to play all night have our fun too!!!
      • Maybe we need to get everyone on this tribe to all camp together so we all can be noisy!!! Take over a whole area!!! INVASION ANYONE?
        • Can I get a Hell Yeah!

We continually got shushed out in the middle of nowhere because we were singing too loudly around the campfire at midnight. Singing - at such a late hour as midnight - the horror. Our neighbors wanted a quiet spot so they camped out at the point, and we wanted to be loud and not disturb people, so we camped out at the point. There is a desperate need to separate the camps so people know what to expect.
          • At the very least, there needs to be somewhere where people can be up all night and have fun. I'm guessing that even those that want quiet camps are wanting to be out late at least one or two nights of the war. I just hope this is addressed by next war in some fashion because this is the one thing that I've heard over and over about the last war. Both sides. There needs to be some kind of comprimise.
            • Hrmm....

              Noise vs. Quiet???

The noisy ppl raise an army....the quiet ppl raise an army and fight it our? Whoever wins the day gets to rule the night!

I'm down, I'd fight for the side of noise :)

Anyone tight with JoeAngus, he's still the Lilies Chair for the Kingdom?
    • SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH your ass is making too much noise when you walk and we're at war, we want to sleep. My gosh how old is Calontir? Before we were the party kingdom now, it's like we all take our walkers and go to bed at 10. I am tired of it. Maybe we sould start another war at the same time as lilies for those wanting to actually party and stay up until 2am. Why dosen't the committee decide that noisy camping has a designated are and quiet camping have a designated area? I have heard people say "We've been here for the last so and so years and we shoulden't have to move." Well I am sorry but, Lilies camping is first come first serve. If you know that noisy campers will be in next to you this year then find another place to camp that simple. Either that or the committee takes charge and divides the war into half noisy and non noisy camping. I for one go to bed around 2 or 3 which is normal war hours in my mind. The poor plague party was pathetic because of a 12 oclock shut down time. We we're on our way down there when we got side tracked for an hour and then people were walking back cause it closed.People get serious!!! THIS IS WAR. If you want to sleep undisturbed then ear plugs. Can I go to someone sleeping thats snoring very loudly and shoosh them or are we going to start handing out nose strips to hold their nostrisl open? I have to deal with the very loud snorers they should have to deal with me out until 2.
      • Sorry this topic makes me so inflammed that I can't spell right!!! Considering not attending Lilies this year because of the shooshing, and the lame parties
        • As far as shooshing goes, I believe some lessons were taught, and next year should be different. Especially if a certain someone I know will be Queen by then if it happens this Nov. As far as lame parties... Not sure what we can do to help that...

I have a plan and it involves strawberry slushies and rummmmmm.
            • My plan involves an enclosed encampment (I know...not very Calontiri...but I ain't from around here) with scantily-clad ladies, lots of drumming and dancing, free-flowing ouzo and a hot-tub.
              • Enclosed. :( Ick.
                • It's for safety. Have to be able to control access to the pool and hot tub else be liable for poorly parented children (unsupervised and ill-trained) going where they are not supposed to be.
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Wow! Ya know I really enjoyed the carnival that a group threw two years ago. I got some good stuff for my kids for prizes and the lemon shake-ups were awesome!! Enclosures I don't mind as much because I saw some pretty cool one's at Pennsic. They work well for keeping the drunkards from walking into the wrong tent as well. Had one guy come in after he lifted my wall on the side of my pavilion, he then sat down in our chair, Fred told him "wrong tent man you gotta leave now", the guy picked up our folding chair and walked out the front door. I was asleep through the whole thing.Walls although not really sociable so serve some purposes. Make them impressive and people won't mind as much. Besides, I usually don't walk through other people's encampments just cause I do value my privacy at my encampment as well. Course I can on the edge of the world with my bellysisters. I will endure the possibility of getting sucked up by a waterspout for a nice view and breeze from the lake. Cool idea about a hot tub!! It would be nice to have more access to the lake from the sides where we camp. I don't mind an occasional jump in if I can get to water without having to walk through very tall grass.
                • been to some GREAT enclosed parties at Pennsic!

YAH.....that's the way to go at Pennsic.....it's accepted and expected at Pennsic to have elaborate gates, walls/fences/etc., and even guards. Sometimes you have to do that just to keep your land allotment.

But at Lilies, I've heard that it is one of those "unwritten rules" that enclosed encampments are not tolerated well. It's one of those ideas immigrants or visitors bring to the kingdom. Just seems to not catch on from year to year. Stifles some creativity and self expression. But sure does make for a cluster-f**k when trying to find someone's camp.

Of course that usually comes from the directions and locations given or posted referencing "Sir Anonymous's Camp" as the location for some tournament, event or party. It works if everyone knows exactly who this person is and knows where they are camped in any particular year. Doesn't work so well for new folks or people that don't run in the same social circle but would like to participate in some event at the war.

My first few years at Lilies I was still trying to figure out the colloquialisms used to express landmarks and directions to "famous" places or "traditional" encampments. Might have helped if there were more heraldry in use...or more distinctive markings for encampments.

Ok....off my soapbox for a bit....but I'm keeping it handy.
