I'm in the middle of this classic work now and am thoroughly enjoying it. I knew the legend and have seen all the movies, of course, but had never actually read the original work. It's a bit slow starting, and is written in journal style, but is picking up steam in the middle. I'm particularly interested in Stoker's use of the journal entries to develop tension. As readers, we can piece everything together because we have access to all the various entries, but the individual character's writing them do not. It adds a nice puzzle element for the main characters. Any thoughts?

Hi,

Thanks for checking out the Literature of Fear tribe site. This is a moderated discussion group, but only to prevent flame wars. All topics related to the literature of fear are welcome here. We particularly invite you to post reviews of your favorite books, discuss books you are currently reading or have read, or discuss the academic nature of fear in literature.

Your opinions on books, authors, publishers, series, cover art, characters, plots, etc... are always welcome. However, we will not tolerate attacks on those opinions, or on any individual poster who shares that opinion. It's perfectly acceptable to criticize a book as inane, childish and poorly developed, however, you may NOT criticize another member in that way. Debates, about the literature in question, are welcome... and can be quite heated at times, and that's fine. Just as long as it doesn't get personal.

That's about it... hope you enjoy.

Peace,
Greg
