So I am friends w the Office Manager at work. She is good to talk to and stuff for me, but I am a very patient person. Everyone who is friends with this girl must be extremely patient. The thing that I would like to rant about today is the fact that she ALWAYS wants me to WAIT for her! If I am going to take a break at work, I am to let her know so that we can take a break together, and before I go home, she likes to walk out with me so we can have a cig and shoot the breeze.
Well no matter what I do, how much advanced notice I give, when I schedule our breaks, how late I wait before going home, it does not matter. It never ever ever fails. I end up standing in the doorway of her office for at least 3-5 minutes or more, EVERY SINGLE BREAK, EVERY SINGLE DAY!
It's not just me either. The poor girl who works in the mailroom has to wait for her to complete the checks to be mailed out each evening before she can leave. It is never done on time, she misses the last drop-off for mail at the local post office, has to rush to make it to the next nearest post office, ends up being late to pick up her children from daycare, etc.
She doesn't come into the office until 11:30 or 12 while the rest of us have to be here by 8:30a. She justifies it by saying that she stays late each day. "I am a night person" she says. Well that's nice for her, especially since she is single and has no children. I however need to leave here at 5:00 and get home to my family, but she guilts me into staying later nearly every day.
It is especially frustrating on a day like today when our boss sends a memo out to everyone that we are allowed to leave at 1:00 and get an even longer weekend, but now she has asked me to stay late to help her finish her duties.
IT IS NOT MY FAULT YOU DIDN'T SHOW UP TODAY UNTIL 11:45!
