So much has been going on, i might as well start here ...
Live365 done lost they minds, so i had to move over to Odeo.com. Please bare with me as i try out something new. I hope that so many of you who told me you weren't able to hear the audio on Live365 will now be able to do so. "7 out of 10"
This is a project of the Downtown Women's Action Center (DWAC) in Los Angeles, CA. The name comes from the fact that 7 out of 10 women (70%) living in the area of downtown Los Angeles now known as "Central City East" – historically known as 'Skid Row' – "have experienced violence during their lifetimes, including domestic violence and sexual assault. The campaign is working to raise awareness about the unacceptable levels of violence, as well as build infrastructure within the community to prevent violence and provide appropriate services to survivors of violence."
"Imagination and the Black Panther Party"
Is a show I did for Some of Us Are Brave on KPFK on October 26th. It is the audio of a slide presentation by Kathleen Cleaver at the opening of a photographic exhibit at the 18th Street Arts Complex in Santa Monica . The photographs were taken by the husband-and-wife team of Pirkle Jones and Ruth Marion Baruch and published in their book "Black Panthers" by Grey Bull Press in 2002.
"You Betta Call Tyrone"
"Deconstructing Tyrone – A New Look at Black Masculinity in the Hip-Hop Generation" is written by Natalie Y. Moore and Natalie Hopkinson . The Sistahs held a book-signing at Eso Won Books in Leimert Park on October 14 and graciously allowed me to record them.
CONTAINS SOME SHO-NUFF GROWN FOLKS LANGUAGE
"An Angry Black Male Who Dates Asian Women"
