Hotep All,
Welcome to my nu tribe..
Well let's get the healing on..
Please comment on the above subject matter concerning the patriarchal beliefs that are currently causing division in the Afrakan family. This separation consciousness (Set) reflects an inna fragmentation with the GODDESS within and HER reverence... No beat downs please these are our collective karmic lessons. It is time they are addressed and healed...

Re: Patriarchal Beliefs that Divide the Afrakan Family
Sat, February 18, 2006 - 1:21 PMSome patriarchal belief systems that divide the Afrakan family I think start within its very foundation in that it denies, by its very concept, the validity of the Matriarchy by its non-inclusive unnature.
It begins with the lie that life comes from males and then justifies the obvious untruth of this by asserting that for wombn to give life it is as punishment. Punishment because the patriarchal system also blames wombn for the shortcomings of men.
Such precepts have drawn us out of our own ways and into the non-sense of 'gender wars' because there is no longer a fundamental overstanding of the cooperation of both female and male to necessitate wholeness; completion.

The List Begins!
***********************************************************************************************
That one man is any more divine than another.
That the words of one book will "save" everyone!
That any woman is “less divine” than the average man!
That it’s OK to give your body to anyone you want to!
That hell is a place and not a state of mind and spirit.
That dyeing of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, cancer, etc. is to be expected!
That practices like Yoga, chanting, dance and meditation are ungodly and a waist of time.
That satan is a person and not a state of separation from God.
That spanking your children is OK!
That death stops communication between the living and those who have passed on.
That money equals power and if you don’t have it you are powerless!
That your natural ethic look is not good enough and definitely not beautiful!
That light skin somehow makes you “more white” therefore better than other Black folks!
That we should be more concerned with knowing our collective cultures than our own!
That when you reach a certain level of success you don’t commune with those with “less” success!
That All “Supernatural” things (Mediumship, channeling, tarot, “magick”, etc.) are inherently evil and NOT natural!

Re: Patriarchal Beliefs that Divide the Afrakan Family
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 6:27 AMSome of these are not patriarchal beliefs, but EUROPEAN beliefs in general. Unless you are saying they arise out of a skewed male worldview in ancient Europe. -

Yes.. we have a matriarchal origin. However, Afraka (being the Mother Continent) gave birth to both matriarchy and patriarchy as well.. See Cheik Anta Diop for more info :The Cultural Unity of Black Africa: The Domains of Patriarchy and of Matriarchy in Classical Antiquity by Cheikh Anta Diop (Paperback - Jan 2000) -

Re: Patriarchal Beliefs that Divide the Afrakan Family
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 6:11 PMIt's been a while since I read that piece but doesn't Diop deal also with matrilineal vs patrilineal and matriarchal vs patriarchal they are not synonymous as it seems as this discussion may be framed.
From what I remember patriarchal vs patrilneal societies are not necessarily congruent with the former being what we mean most often when think of european society and its influence on the world, that being a hegemonic, self indulgent perspective hell bent on what's in it for me at the expense of the whole.
Whereas patrilineal is more about inheritance rights and the underpinnings that go along with that which may or may not lead to degrading or devaluing of women and so forth.
