Intermediate Poi, Advanced Poi, Fire-eating/Fleshing Workshops by Cherry

Cherry has been performing and teaching fire-performance for over 8 years all over the West Coast and Europe. She has appeared on HBO, The Style Channel and countless events all over the world. Workshops are designed to help the students build their skill set and smooth out transitions to take their art to the next level.

Intermediate Poi levels 1& 2 (combined levels in workshop):
This course is designed to bring the student up from the basics of poi spinning to the next level of poi dancing and performance. Intermediate 1 will focus primarily on more difficult transitions of the foundation moves taught in the beginner's course. We will also be focusing on smoothing out transitions and incorporating more dance and body movement and choreography with the poi spinning. Intermediate level 2 will focus on more complex variations and start to introduce more abstract movements as under the leg, wrapping and spinning from different lengths. We will also be focusing on combination movement.

Advanced Poi:
Advanced poi is for the experienced poi spinner who is ready to embark on adding various complicated movement to their spinning. As this course is very intensive we will be focusing more on groups of tricks. These groups can range from wrapping/chain wrapping, tosses, acrobatics with poi, behind the back movement (with weave and butterfly), one handed butterfly (with many variations) or any other areas of movement and choreography that the students are interested in.

Fire Eating and Fleshing (body burning or Salamandering)
This course is an intro to the art of fire eating and fleshing! Almost all there is to be learned about this art form will be covered in one workshop. Primarily we will be focusing on the basic techniques of fire eating. The fleshing will focus on technique of creating traces of fire on the skin and clothing. We will also be focusing on fleshing transfers on different parts of the body. Students will need to either bring their own torches or order them IN ADVANCE from me for $12 a pair (small) or $17 a pair (large).

Intermediate Poi: 1.5hrs (1/2 "playtime" afterwards) $25

Advanced Poi: 1.5hrs (1/2 "playtime" afterwards) $25

Fire Eating/Fleshing: 1hr. $20ea Fuel will be provided. Equipment (Torches) is required and you may either bring your own or order them in-advance from Cherry.
