I'm sure with the rainy season we had this year, there is still A LOT of snow up there. I did Whitney in late May a few years ago and snow pretty much covered the trails for the last 5 miles up. It made for a narrow path to walk (not good for those afraid of heights), and we had to use crampons and ice axe.
I'm sure there's a link somewhere that will give you a better idea of conditions up there now.
