Gamelan X embodies explosive, rhythmic energy. Its inspiration comes from the marching gamelans of Bali, in Indonesia, which create ritual music of incredible impact, mystery, and beauty. Gamelan X is alive with movement and spontaneity, creating dazzling, high-energy music, dance, theater, and aerial performance that is completely fresh and unique. Based in Oakland, California, Gamelan X combines Balinese gongs and cymbals with African and Indian percussion, as well as Western wind instruments to create a dynamic, hybrid world-music orchestra for the 21st century.
