What are your thoughts on this placement? I have a hard time with it.

with the S.Node in the 1st house, off the top of my head, I'd say that there may be a tendency to focus on the self & physical attributes, in general ~ to rely too much on looks, first impressions & the perceived ego/identity ~ the N.Node would be in the 7th house, so for optimal growth in this life, it would be better to shift the focus & emphasis to the relationships one has with other people, rather than the outward appearances of self & others

love all-ways,

In vedic astrology with respect to marriage, North Node in 7th house (South Node in 1st house) indicates devoid of marital happiness. Invariably it also indicates marriage to foreigner.

Yes, I've read that, MaryEllen. I do tend to be too shy about my looks...I also have a wieght problem....but I think that comes from my job, sitting all day But I don't think I'm overly focused on myself. When I was younger, I was VERY self-conscious, painfully.

I am an Empath. In fact, I can get VERY wrapped up in other people. (I have the Sun n Pisces in the 7th House conjunct my North Node, which is in Aries, also in the 7th House.

I have Virgo Rising, but my South Node is in Libra (still in the 1st House). It is situated brertween Mars and Neptune, both rising in the 1st House.

If anybody is interested, I'll post my chart.

I have had a very happy marriage so far....but not to a foreigner. 25+ years! He is the Sunshine of my life.

I have South Node in Virgo although not in the 1st house - I am also Virgo Sun (south node is 10th house conjunct to Sun and Virgo Pluto and trine to my Scorpio ASC) and I can say that I HATE to be the center of attention - I get very self-conscious when people look or stare at me. I don't want my picture taken or anyone praising me (not necessary thank you because it makes me self-conscious). I always think everyone can see all my flaws. I think this is honestly a Virgo thing even though it is in Libra for you and also a 1st house thing with your Virgo Rising.

We like to be on the sidelines and not the center of attention so this can cause us to be self-conscious about ourselves and want to divert our attention to others. I do the same thing - I want take the attention away from me so I try to focus on others. No me. lol. It has to do with us being modest and humble. Since it is in your 1st house, there will be alot of attention on it too - 1st house about the outer persona you project. As I am sure you know, you have to be more Aries. Interesting that you have Mars in your 1st house - I always thought about why my North Node was in Pisces and I ended up Neptune in the 1st - maybe to help make it easier for me to be more Pisces? :) The Mars in 1st could be a helper for you in your goal to focus on being more Aries in this life.

With the Neptune in the 1st, (I have this too! I think my South Node is trine to it) you probably are very sensitive Ihence the shyness and self-consciousness about your looks - I am weird about mine too!). Is the South Node conjunct to anything in the first (or aspected to anything else in your chart)?

Glad to hear it.....may god bless with happiness to rest of your life.

Here is the complete picture

North node in 7th house is a precondition to marrying a foreigner. Other condition is that 7th house/lord should have some connection with 12th house.

Please read marriage-matching.blogspot.com/20...tml

North node in 7th house marital happiness is devoid, However the placement of 7th house/7th lord and also planets aspect on the 7th house actually determines the quantum of happiness.

There are innumerable commentaries by sages regarding this.

kumar, I do not understand why you are telling me this, when I told you it doesn't pertain to me. What is your point? ;-)

Queenfluff....

> Is the South Node conjunct to anything in the first (or aspected to anything else in your chart)?

Well, it is conjunct Mars, and opposite the North Node. The North Node is within 8-9 degrees of the Sun, so you could say it is conjunct my Sun. My Sun makes many aspects.

My Sun is opposite Mars, too, of course, and involved in a T-Square with Uranus in the 10th House. Mars is, of course, squaring Uranus, too.

This could be seen as a Cosmic Cross if you include Chiron, which is opposite Uranus in the 4th House.

I'm going to put my chart in the photos here.

I have SN in the 1st and I am very selfish, focus on myself, have a bad temper, touchy and defensive. i have trouble trusting people, i am suspicious of others and have a hard time making friends because of it.

Re: South Node in the 1st House

Haha! Jennifer, I could say the same about myself, too. However, there are reasons for all these, within my present life.

I have thought about Selfishness. I don't think it is bad if you take it ALL THE WAY. That is, if you think it through, you realize that we are all connected, and if we love ourselves, we naturally love others. Jesus, a Wise One, had a good saying," Love others as you love yourself." He didn't say to love others MORE than you love yourself.

I have known people who give to others, then then they end up needing help themselves, because they didn't take care of themselves. That, to me, is not admirable. It's important to take care of oneself, to love oneself, and then.....to get that love flowing to others. It's a flow of energy that brings a rhythm into one's life.

depends on sign and aspects, maybe. I use whole signs, mostly, and that puts my south Node in the first, which does fit me a lot. It basically means you are too self-absorbed, too focused on your issues and asserting yourself, without being capable to relate.
I also read that you are super-focused on recognition or competition to the point of totally mistrusting others..basically, you need to learn that no man's an island. I haven't, yet.

I would suggest to first emphasize the Aries-Libra nodal polarity meaning and then customize it to the houses it falls in. Since Aries rules the 1st house and your south node (Libra) falls in this house, most people want to use the traditional south node in the 1st house interpretation. But this won't work for you because the South node sign for you is Libra which rules the 7th house which is where your north node (Aries) falls in.

So, for you, you have mastered relationships with others (Libra south node) and so your Soul is desiring to grow and evolve toward being more independent and self reliant/sufficient/oriented (Aries north node). Now the areas of life (houses) where you will see this dynamic play out is in the 1st house (appearances, self image, self growth) where you have perhaps in the past not been very self oriented or self confident but rather more reliant/dependent on how others/relationships (Libra south node) saw you for your self image. The new area of growth for you is to express your individualality/self/identity (Aries north node) within your personal relationships (7th house)

My thread on Nodes...

My first thoughts would be that your Lessons in this life are all connected to learning balance (7th libra) and to be in one to one relationship like marriage or even business partners...to come away from putting yourself always first and foremost, and having to learn how to put others before yourself... depending on signs of course and any aspects to nodes...

Yes, balance. My Sun (Pisces) in the 7th House also helps, as well as Virgo Rising. But sometimes keeping the balance seems very very difficult. Way too many details!

I have been working with Tosha Silver on "Divine Order," and it seems to be helping me more than anything else so far! (Let the "Divine" take care of the details!) LOL!

if you are virgo rising then pisces is on the descendant and it's ruler is neptune. So locate where Neptune is and which sign is dispositor to neptune ie: capricorn/saturn, saggi/jupiter.

In my chart, Neptune is in the 1st house in Libra. Libra's ruler, Venus, is in the 5th house, in Aquarius.

I'm not sure why you wanted me to figure this out. (???) Can you give me a clue?

Thanks, Charity, but I don't feel I've "mastered" relationships with others......and my Sun is in Pisces in the 7th House, in the same house with the North Node (Aries).

You can see why it's so confusing to me!

I do feel that circumstances are pushing me to be more independent now.........and sometimes that feels uncomfortable for me. However, with Uranus at Midheaven, I am so "weird" that people treat me (often) as some kind of outsider, so I've kinda been forced to find my own way....
