I couldn't finish the first story, but I read the second one all the way through.I regret it. if you want to read about hopelessly depressed people and become one youself, then this is the book for you. I'll never finish it.

    I hate books, and movies for that matter, that are morbidly depressing. I started a few books like this and have seen far to many movies like this. I read books to get away from all the depressing stuff in life. There is a way to put depression and depressing subject matter in books with out causing your audience to want to commit suicide when they finish. Thanks for the warning.

      you've just described every french movie i've seen in the last ten years. did you SEE la vie en rose? excellent movie, but dammit. i wish i could have kept my idea of edith piaf as a nice lady who had a beautiful voice. sheesh.
