Hey!! I finally have just got your new CD from Itunes and I have to say it is soo inspiring and you really put your back into it :oP I love it!!! It's beyond awesome!!!
I have a question for you: Why did you name it "Siege" what is the meaning of this title for you? and could you please explain what the cover picture is about? or how does it relate to your music?..
I'd really love to know :o)

Re: Mini Interview for Maduro
Thu, June 19, 2008 - 3:17 PMHi Nat - thanks for the questions - i love questions...I rarely get them
The last two albums "Juno Wakes" and "Siege" are thematic - Juno Wakes was about losing oneself, distraction, dreaming and discovery using analogies of a dream cycle and using a goddess as a the primary subject of the journey.."Siege" is about struggle - the ongoing struggle inside of ourselves, and especially with our art.. "Siege" is about this warfare within us about our art and integrity and it's reflective in the sound - the music does not have a lot of space (it's crowded and dynamic), and there is hardly space between tracks. There is use of distortion and violent breakcore type elements which are fragmented. It is meant to be an onslaught of sound, the give and take of internal combat. The art work for "Siege" documents the damned, those who have have struggled and lost (sucumbed to their personal campaign and lost this siege of self) - it was taken from a photograph of a 17th (?) Century Italian Cathedral... -

Thu, June 19, 2008 - 7:28 PMHumm pretty interesting, I really like whats behind "Siege" then..
And about Juno Wakes.. how is it that you use this goddess as the primary subject of the journey?.. I didn't really get that , I know Juno was a Roman goddess which was said to be the queen of the gods back then, did you pick her?,, -

Re: Mini Interview for Maduro
Thu, June 19, 2008 - 10:11 PMyes, i picked juno as she is the goddess of all goddesses... it originally started with a song "juno wakes" that was in my head and then i wanted to walk people through this dream journey and her waking and awakening - the release starts with "drifting" - "sonambulist" is about sleepwalking, there is "juno dreams" and a few other songs alluding to magic and dreams, then after "seance" I finish with "juno wakes" - most people dont buy releases for themes anymore, they buy them for singles/individual songs so the bigger point is often missed...and that is ok -

Re: Mini Interview for Maduro
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 6:11 AMI bought both Shimmer Sustain and Juno Wakes as whole albums after hearing one track off of Juno Wakes at a friends performance(Naraya :) ). It was a pleasant and welcome surprise that the album was thematic. Artists are starting to design albums with the single track purchase tastes in mind, whereas I tend to still buy CD's to make sure I'm getting all my bits and bytes when I rip to digital, so I see it more often than others, I suppose. My favorite track of all time is still Isdes though, gets my dance on every time. -
