HELP, HELP, HELP please! We need help with a piece of music!

My dance partner and I are in desperate need of some help. We choreographed a candle tray # to a piece of music that we thought came from Cirque Du Soliel album. We were asked to perform on a DVD and we would like to do this # but we need to see if we can license the song. We searched high and low for this original of the song and we cannot find it. My dance partner swears it is from Cirque Du Soleil but it is not on any of the albums we can find. If anyone knows where this music is from please let us know. We would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks.

music video in my head

I don't know if it was the freezing cold of the surf today, too much Monty Python, or just an over active imagination. On the way back from the beach, I was grooving to Juno Wakes “Under The Skin”. This whole music video unfolded.

The scene is set in an exotic hotel lobby. The camera cuts from character to character. Tabla players are hanging out in the corner. Sabrina Fox is busting out some serious moves. I’m at the hotel counter dressed like John Cleese, silly mustache and all. Every time the bell rings, it’s me at the counter ringing for the clerk. After about the third time the camera pans in close to a man reading a newspaper in a big overstuffed chair. The corner of the paper folds down, he tips his shades down, he cocks up one eyebrow, the camera pulls back a little – it’s Maduro.

The roar toward the end is either an animated tiger walked through the lobby or someone blowing a big fireball. I can’t decide which is better.

Anyway, I’ll spring for the bell if you like it.

Class focused on learning short choreographed combinations of technical movements and saucy style for tribal improve dancing. This is a blend of traditional belly dance moves with a sassy jazz & hip hop flavor.

Having trouble with your isolations? Need to build quad strength for floor work? Then this is the class for you!

Your music is so electronica. What instruments do you play? I hear so many instruments throughout it all that it's hard for me to pick out the real from the synthesized. I was listening to "Shimmer Sustain" this weekend. While I was originally thinking it was in my top 10 of all time, it may be in the top 5. It just keeps moving up :)

You will receive instruction in anatomy as it applies to dance, music theory, instruction in all FCBD steps and concepts, drills, critique and question and answer time.

In order to attend this workshop, you MUST have prior ATS knowledge either via class, workshop or FCBD instructional dvds. This is a must - not an option. Usually a dvd or in-person assessment is required in order to qualify for registration, but this has been waived for this event. Do not disappoint Carolena or Megha - be well prepared with the material. All volumes of FCBD dvds can be purchased through Cleopatra's Bazaar or directly from FCBD.

Once completed, you will receive a General Skills for ATS certificate. It should be noted that completing this certification does not qualify one to be an authorized ATS teacher.

Also included in the registration are gourmet catered vegetarian lunches each day, water and juice for all participants.

Hi all,

I am very excited to announce that I am putting on another gothic belly dance event here in the Boston area--Arlington, to be exact: Shimmy in the Shadows! The incomparable Aepril Schaile will be teaching a workshop on her fabulous veilwork, and then we'll have an honest-to-goodness gothic hafli. Want to perform? Contact me asap for a dance slot, requests will be taken on a first come, first serve basis and the number of performances will be limited, because open floor dancing will be an important part of this event.

Also, if you vend anything you think might be of interest to gothic belly dancers and those who love them, you are more than welcome to drop me a line about vending at the event. I'm really looking forward to this, I felt like Raks Spooki back in the fall really helped create a sense of community for those of us exploring the darker side of dance and I'm excited to help keep that feeling alive! ... er, I mean, undead ;-)

New Album Under Development: Maduro is currently recording new material for the next album due sometime in late Summer 2007 on Eventide Music Productions. This release will feature contributions by cellist Samantha Hegre as well as label-mate and world music artist Tim Rayborn. This new project will be considerably darker and more technical than Shimmer Sustain. Album art/design will be by Tempest. Previews of this project will be posted on http://www.maduromusic.com and on Maduro's myspace.com page (http://www.myspace.com/maduro) in early-mid 2007.

In other news, a review of Shimmer Sustain and an interview with Maduro will appear in the forthcoming print issue of Zaghareet Magazine.

Also, Unmata and Katie Kay are rumored to be performing to Maduro's music on upcoming DVD projects from Pekorecords.

Another New Solace Track

There is a new Solace track on MySpace called "Jiva". This track is more true to the description I posted yesterday. There are a handfull of tracks that have a electronic feel, but most of the instrumentation is organic. So I would have to say that "Nagari" is a well balanced mix of mild electronica and traditionalism.
