The facts: The Realms of Legend

For those who do not know about the project or who have heard some of the bizarre rumors that circulate about it I would like to point you towards a few web pages that address the real facts about the Realms of Legend project.

For a while now there has been an element in reenactment circles that has been spreading false information about what the Realms of Legend project is and how it might affect reenactors from various groups.

Most of such rumors are completely false and the rest are at best based on inaccurate perceptions, many are outright malicious for personal reasons or by persons from one of the many imitating projects that have sprung up.

If you are a reenactor, SCA, rennie, or other person with an ongoing interest in recreational historic reenactment then you will probably find the info most interesting.

If you have any questions after reading the material at the following two links then please ask.

I am quite certain that you will find that the project is not only far from damaging or predatory towards such organizations and activities but that it is far more supportive than any other similar facility is ever likely to be.

Wow, that's incredible! I, for one, have nothing negative to say about the project, except: I can't wait for it to open!

Hey man , this sounds very similar to an idea I've been rolling around for a while , while mine was not quite as "open" to the public , the general premise for the planned community is this

a refuge for the clans in time of trouble , preferably on high ground that is still farmable and still has acess to waterways that could be harnessed for electricity,

authenticy would deffinitely be taking a back seat to comfort and aestetics, myself being a fan of the idea of marrieng the architecture of the movie version of Rivendell with the gorgious curves of La Tene art . Besides this idea of mine is'nt exactly for the tourists , these structures are intended to be the actual homes, shops and farm buildings of my clan.

I promised my grandmother and grandfather not long ago that when they where too old to care for themselves they could count on me to look after them , my great grandmother died peacefully at home in her own bed with her family around her , this is a honor I choose for myself and have in effect sworn to uphold to my grandparents .

My sister has a child , my mother is always in a rough way when it comes to money and housing , add to that the people I call my "Oath Kin" such as Mike my King in Darkon and the other lads , and all of a sudden there is a real living breathing clan whom I have made it my personal responsibility to look after and defend if needs be.

My problem is that I am dirt poor , let me rephrase , I work 40 to 60 hrs a week at the DeerPark Tavern , they don't pay me badly ( more than alot of resteruants or even factories I've worked in ) However I find that my income is sucked out of my hands by every sticky fingered, grasping , corporate whoreson , before ever I have a chance to work my own will with my own wages , I might make 1700 a month or there abouts , but at the end maybe 20 bucks stays in my own pocket.

Not to mention that work is such a drain on my time that I rarely have the time to work at the things I love, or even call my Grandparents when I want to ( I work nights)

at the age of 28 ( 29 on the 16th of august) I find myself in a rather desperate ( and seemingly unwinnable) war to the knife with economic slavery

I'll tell ya this right now , being the twenty-first centuries version of a serf chafes worse than sweating in leather pants, but I'll be switched if I can figure out a way out !

So James , my friend , scince your in a strategically better postition than I , shall we lock shields?

I'm kinda stuck here in Delware for now , but if there is something I may be able to help with let me know . I may even be able to spare some of my oh so precious pittance for a small investment in your endeavor .

Thank you, I see we agree about a lot of how to go about it too.

We welcome involvement by people from all over, no matter what your financial situation. If we all do what we can we will succeed in time. Numerically small efforts are just as important as the large investors, they bring the pieces together to make the final whole.

Oh, and several of our key people are in Delaware, including our senior staff artist.
