Hi all,
You probably don't know me, but I am on the lookout for talent around the Albuquerque area. I'm putting on a Vaudeville/Steampunk/Balkan-Gypsy Circus and need circus-acts as well as someone to act as "the Ringmaster".

Grab a Bubble Trick Question...

quick change act

I am an aerialist who is down and out because of a car accident for a while. I am thinking of developing a quick change act while I recover, but I don't know any quick change artists and I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any tips, suggestions, explanations for me? I know that Lex and Alina wrote a book on it but it only seems to be in German. Thanks!

Hey there. Just wanted to let you all know that the group Natives and Nomads, a tribal bellydance group in Las Cruces, NM is having me and my magic partner Javier join them and add stage illusions and close up and parlor magic to their show. Its going to be cool. Sofar it is very cool. we practice evry friday and are doing 3 large illusions in the show right now. We will be adding a 2 magician manipulation act as well. Very cool stuff. Ill post pics soon!

Need magic box built

Do you build the magic tricks? I need a box 18 x 12 x 12. I am making a gift for my husband who is a magician but I am not skilled enough to build an authentic looking magic box.

I would like a box like the "Mirror Box - Mak" I do not need a mirror or any trick feature, just a box with the same top and front opening doors and pained finish like the "Mirror Box - Mak"
or
to resemble a Dove cage, but with top and front opening doors and pained finish

help for an ultra-newbie Re: finger flame

hello!

just to preface... i'm a complete newbie to magic. i work in theater, and a show i'm working on needs this effect...

A person would need to walk onstage, snap their fingers a create a flash of fire, which would drop onto a piller candle and light it. i know there's flash cotton and finger flints and things, but i have no idea how to make this work.

any thoughts?

havent been around in a while

Well ive had a lot of people come in and out of the studi orecently as well as shooting video in Albuquerque and my son had to have hernia surgery. So, you can see I have been busy. We do have good news though. We have a house in Albuquerque now and we are moving into it over the next month or so. I will be up there with Seth by the end of July so he can start school, and Jaimie will be up there 10 days later. The troupe will begin to function again at that point. We do have a small show down in Cruces on the 28th but it is a small show for a Dance school. Then, its off to Alb. Well, see you soon!

Well a lot has been going on

Well a lot has been going on since my last post. We did the War show and it was awesome. Could not have asked for a better show. I almost did not escape my handcuffs in time though, but at the last second it all worked out. That is why I dont do water escapes I guess.
At any rate I have been building a haunted doll house illusion of a little of Paul Osborne's physical design and a Whole lot of my idea and routine. It is going to be awesome and to my knowledge has never been done this way before.
As of my last post I lost a computer. So, I had to spend half of my moving money to Alb and buy a new one. I depend on it for work. I have a 5,000 dollar job comming up so I needed to replace it. I so happened to be the one I do video on. Well, $2,000 dollars later I am sitting here transferring files and writing to all of you.
Well, I will keep you more posted on what we are up to as much as I can. You guys need to post some stuff too ya know!! heheheh.

Whew!!

Ive been working hard lately. Hopefully this will all come together in some small form by war. I have finished the metamorphosis, curtain and all. We have been practicing for about a week now on it. It is going well. Slow but good. The queens cut is done except for a few detials and the collar. The palanquin box is done except for detail painting. I have also been working on my manipulation act. It involves a lot of chinese fans and parasols being produced among silks and at least one bird. It is tough. It has been too long since I did an act like that.

At any rate I am still waiting on acouple of items in the mail. That is really slowing down the manipulation. Jaimie lit her poi for the first time the other night. It was excellent. Very very cool. She is already Jone'sing for the next one. Maybe tonight.

Well I will post pics of the manipulation stuff soon. As well as the finished palanquin box. We are going to be taking promo pics soon as well. I will post those as soon as we have some proofs.

I have been building the 'Queens Cut' Illusion from the 'Osborne Illusion Systems 1' book. Its almost done. I should be able to finish the base tomorrow. The box is build and just needs a top. Then its on to cutting blades for it and paint. Yay! I will post pics soon . Probably tomorrow so that you can see where it is now and the finished product. I still need to post pics of the bird burner and the tear apart vanish. I promise I will soon.

Hello all! I have recently been building some new stuff for the Outlands Magisters Guild to sell. I have just completed a bunch of hot rods. They are ll wood finished Hickory with inset gems. They are great looking and I will post pictures and selling links soon. I have also begun and almost finished a dove vanishing box. Ill have to show you. Its an original trick that I built a long time ago and I have recently decided to rebuild it. I am also making dove trays as well. Mor pics to come soon.

Well I have been doing alot more work

Yes I have been in the shop for quite some time now. Im up to about 20 or so Hickory hot rods and I am almost done with the bird box. I called the original one the Bird Burner. It looks great. Jaimie will testify to that as well.

We have decided to start performing together as an illusionist team. She of course will be my faithful assistant but not without being the star of one hell of a second sight routine we have been doing for a few years.

The first classic Illusion that we have decided to build is the interlude. You know the one where the girl goes right through the magicians middle while he is standing? Its an easy build with a great look.

Not sure what we will add next. If you have any suggestions of anything you hav e seen before, or if you have an idea of something you think would be cool, even if you dont know how to do it, let us know!!
