This is how I did it:
I started with $200 and a Master Card debit card, purchased from Safeway.
I searched the internet for wholesale companies.
I picked two, Leg Avenue (that sells women's clothes) and Chemical Light Inc. (glow novelities).
I made an order with Chemical light for glow sticks and necklaces. I would sell these at parks and events near nightfall, just wandering around. Made some good money. Then I would put $250 on the debit card and buy clothes from Leg Ave and sell them to the high school and college girls, and made more money.
Several years later, I do festivals, sci-fi/fantasy conventions, and fairs selling the same stuff and more.
If you want the money bad enough, you have to work for it every day for a while to cushion yourself.
I want to open a brick and mortar, so I'm trying to come up with ideas to make extra cash to pay for the expansion. All without investors, business plans or bosses.

We have alot of work to do but a bit at a time will get us to our goal. -

Fri, May 28, 2004 - 9:20 AMtry a table at a flea market for several weeks. I have seen vendors from Mexico do this by starting small and having 3-5 tables within several months. -

Re: start small and work your way up
Fri, May 28, 2004 - 6:41 PMLord,
COOL!
I have a similar story...
I had weird parents (so well everyone does) My mother wouldn't let me get a job in high school, not even part time. I also wasn't allowed to get a drivers license, or learn to drive- some weird Parent control thing. Anyway I wanted to go to the Prom and needed tickets, tux, flower, money and a ride.
I went into PriceClub (a wherehouse store) with $16 I had somehow scraped up. I bought a box of Snickers Candy bars. I put it in my backpack and sold them for 50 cents a piece at school. That day I doubled my money. Next week when my parents went back to the store I bought two boxes. Soon I had enough to buy 8 boxes and I doubled my money EVERY DAY.
I earned enough selling candy bars at school to buy a tux, rent a limo and take (what I thought at that time) the prettiest girl in school. My parents were wondering how I had all that money... -
