Hi everyone -- I just set up a new website with some artwork and essays about ancient queers. Check out the site here:

Let me know what you think. I'm also looking for more ancient queer folks to research and draw, so if you have suggestions, send them my way!

Seek out "Another Mother Tongue", it has a few references to classical and ancient writings.

I love that you included Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and Inanna and the male/female spirit that saved Her from the Underworld.

In Japan, there is Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess, who at one time hides away in a cave only to be drawn out by another goddess dancing seductively at the mouth of the cave.

Pan and Daphnis, Apollo and Hyacinth, Achilles and his lover, Hercules had a male lover also, believe it or not.

Loki turned himself into a mare and seduced a stallion, later giving birth to Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse. Not sure if that's 'history' but as long as it's tagged myth it deserves to be remembered, too. :)

By the way, Brandon, I think your Queer History Project is wonderful! I'll bookmark your website and check back often to see how it's going! I wish you well with it,

Thanks. I've just shared your site with my Gay Spirit Visions group, the first place I ever learned about much of our gay history and traditions.

What a lovely and original website intro, Watchdog, but unfortunately the website doesn't take me beyond it! Is there some hidden link I should click on?

I just checked it and must admit that today the stone in the middle of the splash screen slows things down. I'm going to watch that to see if I need to inform our webmaster. Meanwhile, click on the "Skip intro" portion on the lower right to proceed to the site and all of its links.

Sometimes Flash graphics, as beautiful as they are, can get in the way.

Thanks for pointing me toward the Gay Spirit Visions -- the group looks inspiring! I'm glad you shared my site with them.

I also love the flash intro!
