MANASA is an American Tribal Style belly dance troupe based in Sacramento. Our name comes from the Sanskrit word for the divine creatrix of the Universe, Manasa the Serpent Queen. She is represented by a double helix, whose serpentine undulations produced the energy of universal life-force. Those who worshiped her made a pilgrimage to a sacred lake, also known as MANASA.
In taking this name, we strive as dancers to create joyful, elegant, positive and energetic performances...always with respect to our audiences.
