This weekend will feature two days of Lisa and SamiTe's signature workshops and one super cool outer-space themed Saturday night show.

You can register for the entire weekend for $110, or register for each event a la carte. A la carte pricing follows below, next to the workshop and event descriptions. SATURDAY DECEMBER 13
The Saturday workshops and show will be held at Triangle Dance Studio 2603 S. Miami Blvd., Durham (near RTP), NC 27703. Directions are available at www.triangledancestudio.com/dire....htm.
10am – NOON ---Hip Hop Fusion with Lisa Zahiya!
Hip Hop Belly Dance Fusion: Start with basic hip hop movements and techniques and how to effectively fuse them with belly dance, then learn a combination from the routine that won Lisa the title of Tribal Fusion Belly Dancer of the Universe! Be prepared to get funky and sweat. Please wear supportive jazz shoes.
$35 pre-registered or $40 at the door
NOON - 1pm –--LUNCH BREAK
1pm - 3pm --—Direction, Dimension & Dynamics with SamiTe'
Do you want to add some kick to your choreography or intensity to your improv? In this physically demanding specialty workshop, SamiTe' teaches the secrets to creating an unforgettable performance. Bring a blanket or yoga mat for a warm up focusing on stretching the back for belly dance.
$35 pre-registered or $40 at the door
7pm - ??? ---BELLYDANCE TO THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!
Outer space-themed bellydance show featuring both of our lovely workshop instructors as well as many talented local dancers. Tickets $10 each.
SUNDAY DECEMBER 14
The Sunday workshops will be held at Balanced Movement Studio, 304 W. Weaver Street, Carrboro, NC 27510. Directions are available at www.balanced-movement.com/locat....html.
MASTER CLASSES WITH SAMITE’ & LISA ZAHIYA
**NOTE- you must register for both classes, they cannot be split up. Take advantage of the more personal instruction of these two amazing teachers! Space is limited.
$45 pre-registration ONLY for both classes
9am - 10:30am ---SamiTe' Stylings --Combinations are the foundation of any great choreography or improvisation. Learn some of SamiTe's signature Tribal Fusion combinations complete with cues and transitions. We will begin with another back care-focused yoga warm-up, & this time, mats are provided.
10:30am - 10:45am ---Water Break
10:45am - 12:15pm ---Advanced Drum Solo Techniques & Choreography with Lisa Zahiya
ABOUT LISA ZAHIYA
Lisa Zahiya began the study of bellydance in 2000, and immediately fell in love with the dance, it's history, and the large and diverse bellydance community. Before beginning her study of bellydance, Lisa studied ballet, jazz and hip hop dance. She was a member of the University of Maryland dance team.
Lisa began her career in the Baltimore/DC metropolitan area, where she had the privilege to study with Autumn Ward, Laurel Victoria Gray and Artemis Mourat.
She moved to Baltimore and studied intensively with 2nd generation bellydancer, Piper Reid Hunt. Lisa was a member of the Daughters of Rhea performance troupe and is certified LEVEL II dancer in the Piper Method of American Belly Dance.
In the end of 2005 she moved to Asheville, NC. She joined Baraka Mundi, one of the south east's premier tribal bellydance troupes, in March of 2006.
Lisa also teaches and performs hip hop dance. She is known for her fusion of hip hop and bellydance.
In 2008, Lisa travelled to Long Beach, CA where she won the title of Tribal Fusion Bellydancer of the Universe. She also recently completed a week long professional and teacher training program with Aziza of Montreal.
Lisa now teaches and performs as a soloist. Lisa is an in demand workshop instructor and is grateful to be able to travel and teach bellydance.
Lisa lives in downtown Asheville, NC where she teaches bellydance and hip hop dance.
ABOUT SAMITE'
SamiTe' is a world-renowned bellydancer and teacher.
Blending traditional and modern forms, SamiTe' has brought her versatile style to audiences across the globe. In 2008, she won second place in the Bellydancer of the Universe Competition in Long Beach, Calif., as well as winning the Miss Congeniality Competition there.
She currently is the artistic director of Elysium bellydance ensemble in Asheville, N.C.
As an instructor, SamiTe' has traveled throughout the U.S. teaching the art of bellydance, and currently teaches both beginning and intermediate classes.
