Belly Dance Costuming Making Workshops

Julianna’s Wardrobe will be having a series of costume-making workshops starting in January 2008.

The current workshops include: Harem Pants (Jan 19)
Flare Leg Pants (Feb 2),
Making Costume Accessories (Feb 16)
Costume Fitting (Mar 8)
Theatrical Makeup for the Dancer (Mar 29) and
Silk Veil Dying (Apr 26).
All classes are held in Denver and last for four hours, long enough that you should be able to finish your project during class. If you don’t have a sewing machine, don’t worry, Julianna’s Wardrobe provides them. There will also be a six week basic sewing class if you want to become more proficient with your sewing skills.

Other classes in the works are: How to Pick the Perfect Fabric, Stretch Choli, Bra Covering, Cabaret Bra & Belt Set, Tribal Style Belts, UFOs (Unfinished Objects, get help in finishing them).

Julianna has worked for over 15 years as a professional costumer traveling around the USA to professional theatres and dance companies and holds her MFA in theatrical costuming from University of Texas, Austin. Julianna is also a certified Home Sewing Association Trained Sewing Educator. Julianna has been belly dancing for almost 10 years and understands the unique costume needs of the dancer. Reservations are going well, and we are almost sold out of spaces.

These student nights are always successful, and we have had to turn people away, so I urge you to get your reservations in early - and I mean early!
Student night dance slots are open to my students who are NOT dancing professionally to give opportunity for my students to dance for their friends and family.

The restaurant only holds 60, so you must make your reservations early.

hi all,
Thanks to my lovely and super bestest pal, Joanne, from Boston, I will be filming more you tube vids next week.
Sword is on the agenda. Any other requests?
We've tried taking vid at restaurant (other people have) and the vids are horrid, bad lighting, waiters back and forth, so that is why I just do it at the studio.
Stuff at big shows don't come out very well either, lighting issues, etc. etc.
When I win the lottery, I shall put out an instructional DVD with performances, until then, you tube it is!

Okay everyone, here's all the pic's I've taken.
I've got some great ones in here.
I must brag a bit; my lovely student and friend, Pasha, won the t-shirt contest! It won hands down. No One was even close.
I will be posting more of our adventures later.
We had a super time.
And I also must say Bahaia and TamraHenna did a fantastic job of running the camp, and Aziza, what can I say? I have to say I'm a life long fan. She was amazing. I am working on bringing her out to Boulder in September of 09.

Amar Goddess BellyDance Company

After years, and I do mean years, of serious thought, I finally started a professional bellydance company. After a year of false starts, and some dissapointments and sadness, I have finally got together a lovely company.
I am honored and pleased to work with 4 wonderful women, all strong, intelligent, beautiful, smart women.
Jawahir, Joanne, Jennifer and Jen.
I have 5 women in the company now, including myself.
I am not holding any more auditions for members for at least a year or so. We meet once a week for 1 1/2 hours, and these ladies work hard!
We don't goof around in rehearsals! These ladies are up to the task.
We have performed as a trio, myself, Jawahir and Joanne, and now we are - all five of us - ready to perform a cane piece and an unbellievalbe rockin' drum solo, which was inspired by Suhaila.
About our company: I am troupe director, choreographer, Joanne is our lovely company treasurer, my dear mentor, carole ie, and her wonderful non-profit, Initiatives for Creativity and Peace, is my mentor, rock, and a lovely and wonderful friend, Jen is our note-taker.....

I formed this company to bring to the public beautiful, fun, artistic, real bellydance, and dance performances.

Wew will be debuting our company as a whole with our cane and drum solo pieces at the Boulder Creek Festival. Sunday May 27th, 12:45 p.m.

We will also all be doing short solos.

I hope to have some video up soon of our performances, and some of my solos up on you tube or google video or some such shortly.
I have lots of video of me, but it is all crappy! Most of it taken by people who are amateurs, and/or the lighting is horrendous, or some such.

Elevations 2007

For those of you who missed the hafla on Friday night in Evergreen, at Elevations, you missed a fun time. Great show, met lots of lovely ladies from out of town.
The band was wonderful, and my friend and student Pasha came with me, it was her first hafla, and she had such a wonderful time, I think we made a life-long bellydance fan and student out of her!
Thank you to Ocean and Elizabeth - you guys did a fantastic job.
