Good people of Earth,
It is with great sadness, yet not a small amount of relief that Elizabeth and I announce the closing of Marrakech Imports in Evergreen, Colorado.
It has just become too much to handle in these times, and we can't continue to do it any more.
We are working ourselves way too hard, sometimes 80 hours a week, dealing with these slow economic times, employee issues, and more and more debt.
So, we are taking the next step in our journey that we hope will allow some sanity back into our lives! ;-)
The Evergreen store store will be closing at the end of March.
Go by now for deals and discounts on remaining stock.
We are also selling the displays and cases.
Paprika, our new store down in Golden, CO, will continue to stay open, for now, and we are looking forward to Elevation on April 17-19.
We want to share the feeling of thanks, gratitude, love, honor, respect, kindness, support, and help we have received from almost every person we have met through the store.
Marrakech has been a window, a door, into other people's lives that has allowed us to share art, music, dance, culture, community, and fun with thousands and thousands of good people. We treasure you all.
Please come see us at Elevation if you can. If nothing else, come to the Saturday night show, it will be absolutely amazing!

Thanks, Love, Respect, and Peace,
Ocean and Elizabeth Ostteen

Re: Marrakech Store Closing ;-(
Tue, March 17, 2009 - 3:38 PMThat is so sad! The first workshops I started taking were with you guys in Evergreen, and I have really great memories of shopping and walking around town during breaks from classes.
I might have to make one last mini road trip to Evergreen to see it off.
You guys' hard work is really appreciated, and I'm happy to have you in the CO community. And you bet your sweet ass I will be at Elevation (classes and shows) to support you guys!!!

I'm sorry to hear about the closing, and know that this isn't an issue that you'd decide lightly...i truly hope that as challenging as this issue is that as one door closes and that another, wonderful door opens for you.
Much love...

Sat, March 21, 2009 - 7:24 PMHi Mari,
We will continue to sell our items at festivals and events. Mostly, we will be focussing on Elizabeth's clothing designs.
She's got tons of them that she hasn't been able to break out because she spends so much time running the stores.
See you at Spirit of the Tribes! -

Thu, March 26, 2009 - 12:38 PMYou know people,
We loved so much of it, and the people we have met have enriched our lives beyond belief.
We know that Marakech was a source of.... so many things to so many people, and we are proud of that.
But we are not much unhappy that it is ending.
We are ready to turn the page, and start a new chapter!
Thanks again for the support and kindness.
Love,
Ocean and Elizabeth -

Thu, April 2, 2009 - 8:37 PMGlad to hear I can still get some of your killer pants, because that is on my shopping list. I am also excited to hear that Elizabeth will have more time to devote to her designs. It's no fun when you start to get stretched a little too thin. Can't wait to see you in 14 days and about 10.5 hours!
