I would like to say thank you to Tim for his teaching and to the Yoga Loft, Stefanie and Dave for creating and hosting such an event....what a great workshop!

Tim, your teaching is clear and concise! Thank you for your teaching and I will continue to practice my Nine Strikes!
The class was informative and fun! Being able to walk into a workshop cold with little or no experience and to come out with
knowledge of martial history and martial movement was great!

It was great to watch father/daughter and husband/wife groups. The
class was a very informative and great for everyone from the beginner to the more advanced student.

For those of you who have not been to Tim's class, I encourage you to get there!

I had the most wonderful opportunity to sit in on a private lesson tonight.
Tim is an incredible instructor and definately knows his stuff!

What I found most benefitial is the way that Tim allows the student's personality to take form inside the technique itself, allowing for greater self expression, and ease of movement! It was a beautiful dance!

Thanks Tim for allowing me to sit in!! His student was my husband Dave, so I got to cheer and clap from the sidelines!! (I really was cheering and clapping :) You know us belly dancers....can't stay quiet for long!!

As soon as my schedule allows, I am going to start some classes......maybe purple plum petals????? That sounds pretty!

What is Martial Science?

Martial Science is a method of delving in to the various martial paths, and discovering the true, sometimes forgotten origins.
Though most martial art styles have thier own history, what is oftentimes lost is the philosophy and reasoning behind the practice and application of martial techniques. While it is important to study a martial art in depth, and honor the traditions of each style by practicing forms, kata, etc, the true meanings and reasonings behind the techniques are often forgotten or omitted.
This tribe is intended to bring all styles and artists together, to decipher and analyse the movements, techniques, philosophies and reasonings behind the techniques practiced.

Simply put, the aim is to remember the why, not only the how.

Lohan classes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Classes are underway and continuing in the study of Lohan Gung Fu and Martial Science. Currently, classes are being held at Trillium Tribal Dance studio, the owners of which were gracious enough to grant the use of thier wonderful facilities.

Classes focus on martial techniques and thier applications. Study is not limited to one style or system, but rather intends to include movements from "hard" styles (Karate, Tae Kwon Do, etc) and soft styles (Shaolin Kung Fu, Chin-Na, etc). While this type of study appears to be yet another "fusion" or "conglomeration", it is actually a return to the true origins of all martial arts as developed by DaMo (Boddhidharma) in the 6th century, long before the martial "explosion" divided the arts into small groups and styles.
The goal of these classes is not the development of a particular style. Nor is there an emphasis on forms, kata etc. Classes in Lohan study individual techniques and applications, chaining techniques together into a fluid combination, mental awareness, and the limits and possibilities of the body. In doing so, the aim is to develop practitioners who are well versed in many different techniques, while truly understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each.
These classes welcome persons who are new to the arts, as well as seasoned martial veterans.

Persons interested are welcome to post to this tribe, or send an E-mail to tzujan_@hotmail.com
