A Faerie/Mary's Mother's Day Gathering at Wolf Creek
Thursday, May 10th through Monday, May 14th
The womb is our genesis; there we are grown, nurtured, protected, and held until we are ready to influence and experience the world. We are a magnificent clan of people and creatures whose mortal lives began when we squirmed out of the physical wombs of our Mothers'. The Land at Wolf Creek has called for us to Gather in a space of generosity and appreciation to honor the Mothers that we’ve all come from and that still nurture us today; Biological and Terrestrial. If you are reading this, take it personally; this is your invitation.
A Faerie/Mary’s Mother’s Day Gathering is scheduled to take place at the Wolf Creek Sanctuary from Thursday, May 10 through Monday, May 14. This is the second weekend after the Beltaine Gathering. This Call is designed to give you all of the information that you will need in order to invite and inform whomever you consider to be Mother. If you choose to come, you will have an amazing and possibly challenging experience. Please come prepared to contribute to and create the Gathering. Through your attendance at and contribution to this Gathering you will have the experience of creating a space of honor and appreciation for the Mother that you have come from, whether or not she’s there. The space that we will create will foster the birth of an unbridled understanding and a fierce compassion between Mother and FaeKin. Inside of this space the concepts of Family, Chosen and Biological, will be transformed to create a brand new sensation of complete unity.
What’s below is the Logistical and Intentional aspects of this Call, if you have questions, clarifications, or want to offer your support and help in orchestrating the technical aspects of this event, please call Sol at 503/384-8408, call Micahl 503/754-4930 or join the discussion and planning at www.tribes.tribe.net/mary_faeriemothersday. -What is This Place, Anyway??: A descriptive blow-by-blow of the Land, it’s purpose, it’s layout, and it’s functions:
-Purpose: The Sanctuary at Wolf Creek is sacred safe space and is Home in a very true sense to a unique tribe of people. We are made up of Faeries, Native Peoples, Cosmic Divas, Two Spirit Magick Makers, Muses, Lovers, Poets, QweerFolk, Creatures, et al. The Land is where we gather to feed our souls, our bodies and each other. We share visions of Unity, Beauty, Earth Love, Community, Consciousness, Bliss, Transformation, Universal Healing, blah blah blah. The Land is where we do together what we are designed to do anyhow.
-Layout and Functions:
the Barn: the Barn is the Kitchen of the Sanctuary during Gathering season. It’s where we store, clean, prepare, and eat our food. There aren’t actually any animals that are kept in the Barn, it’s just that big. There are no animals and no smoking of any kind allowed in the Barn during this Gathering.
Shitters/Bodily Excrement: Living beings create waste. It is encouraged on the Sanctuary to let fly your urinary urges whenever they hit you (within sanitary boundaries, i.e. please don’t piss on the floor inside of any of the buildings on the Land, avoid the paths, and be careful if you are insisting on pissing in the FirePit, she’ll let you know if she doesn’t like it.) As far as you and your shit goes there are five options available to you while visiting the Land. Gingerbread and Parking Lot shitters are located at the South of the Land near the Parking Lot and behind Maypole Meadow. Beelzebub is right down town, just a stone’s throw from the Garden and the Barn. Theresa/Halston Complex is at the top of Main Meadow behind the cabins. And Flush the Magic Shitter is at the North of Main Meadow and is unique in that it is the only shitter on the whole Land that actually flushes. The rest of ‘em are big ole holes with cute little buildings around them and a spot to sit while you drop your shit. Don’t worry; sawdust, toilet paper, and porn are all provided, gratis, for your shitting pleasure.
Altars/Labyrinth/Sacred Vortices: Throughout the Land there are many spots, spaces, and centers that are energetic high points. A lot of these have been marked with altars where you can sit and chat with whatever it is that is taking up residence in that space. A few of the most prominent examples include (and are not limited to): GrandMother Maple, Maypole Meadow, the Labyrith, the Bridge Memorial Altar, the Pendulum Ancestor Altar, Punk Rock Altar, Maxine, the Sun Altar, and the Moon Altar. These spaces are designed and designated as community sacred space and as such we request that you not camp at an altar during the Gathering. Feel free to visit, make offerings of whatever you feel called, and give love to the altars. They, like you, have a lot to give.
Garden House/Caretaker Cabins: Most of the other buildings on the Land are spaces that are used alternately as living residences for caretakers and indoor community hang out spaces. Garden House (GH) is reserved for special needs visitors, please don’t hang out in GH or eat the food out of GH without express permission from special needs visitors. The shower in the GH bathroom is the only indoor shower available, and shower time is the exception to the rule of GH occupancy. Please be courteous and quiet when you are waiting your turn for the shower.
-PumpHouse/Laundry/Running Water: The other option for showering is the Solar Shower. This is located out in Main Meadow and is usually warmest on sunny days after midmorning and before sundown, duh. Potable, running water is found at PumpHouse, Garden House, the Barn, Flush the Magic Shitter, and Theresa. It’s all drinkable and delicious. Laundry facilities are in the PumpHouse. If you use these facilities, be responsible for your clothes, keep the flow going, and use the lines to dry wet clothes. Please don’t take clothes that aren’t yours.
-Safety/Nonviolence/Drugs: The Sanctuary is a safe haven, a Home, a place of peace and solace. Violence of any kind is not tolerated on the Land at any time (exceptions include healing SM rituals where both parties consent, and clown/mime wars where the bazookas don’t actually exist anyhow). Please report any violence to which you are witness or party to Caretakers or Gathering Facilitators. A circle will be called to address any potential threats to the safety of the Sanctuary.
During this Gathering we request that you bring with you no drugs of any kind (prescription drugs are excepted). We are crafting a space of healing, love and safety. You are encouraged to do your part to create clarity and ease in our overall experience of the Gathering by not numbing yourself to your personal experience.
-Paths/Smoking/Fire Safety: Fire Safety is of the utmost importance and can’t be shared about enough. Once on the Land you will become acquainted with the fire safety drill and the location of the Fire Stations and Fire Extinguishers. Please know that you can help keep the Land safe from unwanted Fires by maintaining the commitment to keep cigarette smoke restricted to the designated areas: The Parking Lot (staying in one spot, and taking your butt with you), smoking circle, Fire Pit, Maxine. If you see someone smoking on the paths or at their camp or in the woods, please be responsible for the safety of the Land and remind them of where cigarettes like to be smoked. We are all responsible for the health and safety of the Land.
-Cars/Parking Lot: With the exceptions of big loads of food going the Barn, Firewood being delivered to the Firepit, and a visitor with special needs unloading their things at Garden House, we request that automobiles (cars, trucks, campers, etc) be kept in the Parking Lot. It is out of an ongoing commitment of gentle interaction with the Land that this request is made. Thank you.
Well, that’s pretty much the run of it. I hope this is what you need to be informed and grounded in your conversations to invite your guests, whomever they might be. If you have questions, want to get support in your process and conversations or want to offer your support in making the gathering happen (there are *plenty* of opportunities to contribute), please call Micahl 503/754-4930 or Sol 503/384-8408 or join the discussion and process at www.tribes.tribe.net/mary_fa...thersday Can’t wait to see you there. Blessings.
