Dear Maya Tribe - PLEASE HELP - 2009 Maya Calendar

Dear YOU!

I humbly ask for your patience & willingness to read this message in full!

My name is Stacy James Fry. - With great humility I have been called to ask for your help. - After 13 years of academic and alternative study on the Maya civilization, I have been inspired to write a novel detailing the particulars of the collapse of the Maya in the 9th century. It is clear to me now the Maya experienced a sequence of events leading to the collapse of their civilization, events that are being repeated today on a much grander scale. My novel titled "The Mystic of the Maya" is a parable, a call to all who will read it to exercise the highest teachings made available to mankind through the teachers of the ages including Eckhart Tolle, SN. Goenka, Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama, Jesus Christ, Buddha, Krishna, Ghandi, Krishnamurti, Paramhansa Yogananda, and many more. The essence of their teachings are embedded into the narrative of the novel and wrapped in fiction provide a passive medium for these messages to reach the masses http://www.2012mayancalendar.org

As you can imagine the writing of this novel is a great undertaking that requires 100% focused attention and free-time to complete. To support the completion of this vision I have invested all my resources and creativity into the creation and printing of 1000 copies of a Mayan/Gregorian calendar for 2009. These calendars feature photographs of Mayan ruins taken by me and each calendar is humbly equipped with the ancient Tzolkin 13:20 time sequence, and the Gregorian calendar. I have incorporated the Tzolkin with the Gregorian calendar as a gentle reminder to mend our unconscious conflict as products of the Greece and Roman Empires, and our role as invaders of the Americas. http://www.2012mayancalendar.org

Purchase of any number of Calendars and give them to yourself, to your family and friends as a reminder that we ALL have the power within us to divert our minds into the harmony and peace available to us at all times. I know many of you will feel challenged by my request, by the fear of lack in your lives. This is another opportunity to face your fear and use this purchase as a conscious catalyst for renewed, or augmented prosperity and a sense of wealth in your own life. People are all each others true wealth and abundance! http://www.2012mayancalendar.org

This calendar is a gift from my soul to you. I thank you from the deep hearts core for your kindness and sincere efforts in this regard. If you simply can not purchase a calendar you CAN pass this message on to all your family, friends and the members of your Tribes, your Facebook friends and and any where you connect with people. BREATH naturally the peace and prosperity available to us now.

To All My Relations!
Namaste - Peace Be With You

I have learned recently something that I am still in the process of understanding for myself, that can help many others as well. One of the biggest issues that people have is taking care of themselves properly. I remember when I was much younger than I am today, my father asking my mother quite often if she had eaten today. Usually this occurred when my mother was most upset about something. It never really mattered what my mother was upset with it. It only matter that she was upset, which in turn caused my dad to ask my mom if she had eaten some food that day. The reason he would do that is because he knew that she had a blood sugar problem and a hyper metabolism which would cause her to go into fight or flight mode over the most absurd things.

Our bodies are very complex biological machines. We take in energy and let go of energy all the time, even in our sleep. Like any machine whether it be a car or radio or something even as simple as a teeter tauter, the proper energy has to be applied to allow the machine to be operational. Energy can come in the form of fuel or applied energy, that is to say energy in motion, and various other forms as well. The simple fact is though in order to get a function to occur whether calculated or not there must be energy flowing for movement to happen. This includes thoughts and emotions as well as say picking up a rock and throwing it. Even a whistle upon a persons lips requires a whole lot more energy than what you might actual think it takes to make the sound happen. It takes the food that you put into your body, that comes from a time being spent storing that energy, in the food from the sun to give a person fuel, so the energy synopsis fires correctly to tell your muscles, in your face, to form the correct shape, to perform the whistle, along with the lungs and the muscle designed to move the lungs, to draw in the air, and then push it out again, to make the sound. It also takes the thought and the understanding of how to whistle in order to do it at all. So, when a person says "that looks hard to do", they are in fact correct. To some level everything is hard to do, and it is defiantly much much harder to do what you might consider usually simple, if you do not have the correct energy input to produce the desired output results.

Basically to sum this up, if you do not take care of yourself or your surroundings or the food and water that you need to have in order to properly function you will not be able to do things correctly, let alone anything at all. If you want to do things, enjoy life and live then the only way you or I or anyone things that is living can do this is if the proper fuel rest and care is put into action and applied correctly.

SO, feed yourself and drink fluids take care of your selves dang it!!!

"To thine own self be true" which means be yourself and take care too!!! In order to be true ones self one has to feed the self in a proper meter and measure. JUST DO IT!!!!Become aware of what you actually need, do not over or under do it by making up excuses. Find a way, ask for help, and allow yourself to be healthy!! That is what your body instinctively wants as well as you personally, regardless if you are conscious of it.

Most of the time people unconsciously go through their day hurting themselves, and as a result hurt others and so on , due to some kind of lacking within in their systems. The best way to figure out what you lack is to try to listen and find ways to understand what your body is telling you. Sometimes it is easier to allow someone who can observe you to inform you of what they see, while you are learning to understand your own signals. It's all there and if you create or put yourself in a place that can allow for you to relax enough to really listen to what your signals are you will soon find yourself "in tune with you". It's like tuning in to a radio station, if you do not have electricity or power to operate the radio you will not be able to tune in to the station. If there is no station to broadcast then even if you have the right fuel or radio then there will be no signal to pick up. Since, that is not the issue with our bodies minds or emotions, this lack of broadcast will never come into play, however the lack of the correct fuel or understanding of what the signals are may be a very apparent factor. Good luck with understanding and applying this correctly.

Know that I share this with you all because my wish is to see people happier and healthier, as well as being there with you all. Know that the process takes time and is not an instant gratification thing. Allow yourself kindness as you would offer compassion to a young child who is still learning about their bodies. If you do that for yourself and others as well there will be great improvement for us all.

Anyone know if Poser 5 can export bodies into a format that can be read by Maya?

I havn't built a computer in a while (3 or 4 years) so am trying to get up to speed on things.

Any suggestions on a good bang for the buck for hardware choices, with an eye towards quick software rendering times? Good hardware rendering would be nice to I guess, but I don't know if I need to spend a fortune on a graphics card (is skimping on this OK? It seems like most low-mid end graphics cards today should do the trick for all but the most complex scenes right?)

I'm going to be running Maya 4.5 on XP.

I'm learning right now, so this isn't going to be a machine I'm going to be doing any real complex production on, and I am on a pretty tight budget. I'm hoping to come in under $700, prefferably lower (not including a monitor).

Any tips/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Is this sort of thing possible in NURBS. Im a bit new to using NURBS and am trying to stick with NURBS for the sake of learning how to work with them (they still baffle me at times).

Things I have tried:

*Revolving a thin rounded rectangle around the Y axis (kind of a rough method)
*Using a capped NURBS cylindar and adding isoparms to the cap and control the vertices to make the "lip". Would be hard to maintain symetry between the 2 lips using this method.

I'm living in Santa Barbara right now, which has a good series of Maya 3d animation classes at the local community college. But the thing is, even though I love Maya, I don't have any experience in visual art whatsoever. I can't draw worth a damn and know nothing about composition and design.

Is there a niche in 3d animation houses that don't require a great eye for composition and design? I love working with Maya, and have put some time into learning it, I think I'm past the biggest hump in the learning curve, but I'm trying to figure out whether its something I should pursue.

I would very much like to get into making 3d visualisations for science education. Is there a market for that?

Are there positions in the pipeline for people to figure out technical things without getting too much into design (and that are not pure proggramming positions)

I was thinking of completing my associates in math (which I want to do anyway) and learning 3d animation techniques at the same time. Is there a niche for that sort of skillset? Programming+math+3d anim techniques (wiithout a good background in design)

(I heart After Effects) I've noticed that more and more broadcast work is requiring 3D skills so after years of stubbornly staying in the safe realm of 2D, I want to try 3D modeling and animation.

I'm a little nervous and have heard horror stories from people trying to learn Maya, so I was thinking of learning Cinema 4D first and then Maya. Is this a good idea? I'm not really interested in Cinema 4D, but I've heard that its the easiest to use. (and also one of the most limited 3D packages)

Do you think its possible teaching myself Maya (buying a bunch of books from Amazon and doing online tutorials) or did you guys get professional training?

If you taught yourself, what books and/or websites do you recommend? Any advise you can give me would be helpful. Thanks.

I am constructing a kangaroo of sorts (not sure how cartoonish or realistic the head will be). So far I decided to try my hand at using NURBS (since all school really taught me was how to use polygons). I have constructed the body and now it is time for the hands and feet.

I have pretty good reference pictures but Im not sure if it is a good idea to make my limbs in NURBS like I did the body. I know I could convert it all to polygons in the end but Im not sure. Personally I find that NURBS seem harder to attach together with other surfaces but maybe there is a method I have not explored yet.

As for the legs, I had the perfect shape by using the curves tool (creating points on the graph) since I could make the leg initially close and accurate to the way a kangaroo's foot is actually shaped instead of taking a sphere or something and manipulating it through isoparm addition.

Thoughts?

Dear Alias Customer,

Today Autodesk and Alias announced the signing of a definitive agreement for Autodesk to acquire Alias.

Alias is a leading developer of 3D graphics technology, headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Alias develops and delivers software and services for film and video, interactive games, media and the Web. It also develops software and services for consumer products, industrial design, automotive, architecture and visualization customers.

With more than six million users, Autodesk is the world's leading software and services company for the manufacturing, infrastructure, building, digital media and wireless data services fields. Autodesk’s solutions help customers to create, manage and share their digital assets more effectively. The acquisition of Alias will continue to round out our product lines across industry segments.

As many of you are aware, in the media and entertainment industry, most leading film studios, game developers and high-end visual effects companies use Alias’ Maya®, MotionBuilder® and FBX® software. Most also use Autodesk’s complementary Inferno®, Flame®, Lustre® and 3ds Max® products. The most demanding industrial designers in the world use Alias’ StudioTools™, primarily in the automotive and consumer products segments. Bringing this technology to Autodesk will strengthen the manufacturing business by integrating conceptual design as a front-end to Inventor Series and the PLM solution.

The acquisition also brings to Autodesk a highly talented group of individuals, a wealth of technologies and a great set of products. By combining the technology and talents of two successful, financially healthy companies, we will be better able to continue delivering solutions that address your ever-changing and increasingly complex needs. And yes, Autodesk plans to continue to support and develop Alias products as well as utilize the strength of the combined organization to provide customers with continued innovation and technology development.

The transaction is expected to close in the next four to six months. Until that time, Autodesk and Alias will continue operating as independent companies and will remain focused on our current customer needs. We do not anticipate any changes with respect to planned product releases for either company. Please continue using your existing contacts for sales, services and support. We will update you on the progress of this acquisition, both directly and online at http://www.autodesk.com/autodeskandalias.

On behalf of Autodesk and Alias, we would like to thank you for your business and reiterate our commitment to ensuring that this event – which is exciting for both our companies – will prove even more so for you.

Sincerely,

Hi All,

I thought I'd ask here, I am making a full featured colorized MEL editor and was wondering if anyone knows a way to make Maya run an existing MEL script from an external program?

I have tried relaunching Maya with the MEL script and this works, but I get a new instance of Maya. What I would like, is the way Photoshop handles that kind of thing, it will simply open the new image inside it's existing application.

I have searched the command line parameters and found them quite few. I thought Maya was supposed to be a command line monster, but that is not turning out to be the case.

I can use API calls to force the script editor to the top and then blast he code in that way, but it seems so "crude" I was hoping for a more integrated way, like blue mel studio.

Thanks

I can restart from where it bombed, and it will render fine, so it's not a bad frame, but it'll only go for about the same amount before it dies again. Same problem if I start the render from the command line. Same problem on a number of different files and the 6.0 to 6.5 upgrade hasn't fixed it.

My workaround is to write a script that only renders in 30-50 frame chunks or use smedge to do the same. Still, it's kind of annoying, I'd like to be able to batch render a long scene without having to jump through hoops.
anyone know of a quality vine tutorial for maya 4.5 unlimited?? something with a way to control the growth over time......and maybe with a way to wrap the vines over simple objects.........i know this may sound like a remidial tutorial, and i have only been able to time control around 30sec (which still doesn't seem the most efficient; i need the vines to grow over the span of 15min really slow)...........the vines don't neccessarily need to look real, just feel real.........but i guess that's the nature of the game........any leads would be greatly appreciated!!...........as an incentive, i am also offering a couple passes to LACMA for any show up now (L A County Museum of Art)........thanks again!!>>>>>>>>>>>

I installed Maya 6 sometime late last year (maybe around September). I picked up a nice tutorial book and went to work. I rendered a TGA sequence as the book specified and everything was hunky dory.

Sometime around this past Febuary I went to render a scene that I had made on my very own (no tutorials for it is for a logo Im working on). I went to render globals...put settings into default and set the settings up like I did in the tutorial last September (for the logo design and elements were very similiar to the tutorial).

I go to the batch render, using all available processors. I also opened up the script editor so that I could see the progress as it was rendering the frames one by one. When I pressed "batch render", it immediately rendered the 60 frames (which is not possible). it just said "rendering with maya software...render complete...see mayalog.txt for more information".

I knew that this was impossible render time given that it was 60 frames and the hypershades and lighting I had to use (lets face it, simple lighting is still gonna make a 60 frame animation take at least 3 minutes to render). I looked for the end sequence and it was not there. it had not rendered.

Things I have tried:

* Changed the file format (instead of a TGA sequence I went to the default .iff setting)

* Used Default settings to see if it would do that

* Tried rendering a very simple scene (a nurbs sphere moving across the room at 60 frames)

* Turned 2D motion blur off

* Tried rendering not using all available processors

* Tried to render using hardware

* A naked "please work oh please work dance"

* Restarting the computer and doing all this in admin mode

* then the last resort....uninstalling Maya and reinstalling it

Part of the issue seems to be that there are multiple places that it could look for the Maya preferences

for example,

/harddrive/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Alias/maya/6.0

within these paths there seem to also be multiple choices for icons & scripts.

any ideas where Maya looks for these things on the mac?

i did happen to see if my DirectX is updated and it is. Apparently the mystery may be solved by having to reinstall my OS. I am hoping that something else can be done since that would be a pain in the arse.
1. Matrox Millenium P750
2. Appian Rushmore
Ideally, I'd like to spend between $200-$300, preferably at the lower scale while still getting decent performance.

I've used a dual monitor set up to write VB macros on one screen and run them in Excel on another screen, so am very excited about this - please give me some advice before I throw my money away though!
PS: If you have any experience with WACOM tablets, your advice there would also be helpful. I'm thinking of investing in an Intuos3 9x12 tablet. After that, I won't be buying too much more :)

Or is there a way to simply change the scale in Maya.
I jjust cant remember. Im a student. :)

Or maybe i can just adjust the scale in the instancer?
Anyways, I just really need some ideas here, as well as any advice or anything else anyone has to offer. I just went and got some nice dress clothes and a suit even, hoping for an interview. Anyways, thanks for any help, sorry for rambling so long...
