Astrology/Astronomy

And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. Luke 22:9-13

This mysterious man "bearing a pitcher of water" led the disciples to the "last supper." It is not a coincidence that the main symbol of Aquarius is a man bearing a pitcher of water. This symbol indicates the servant of God who pours forth the waters of life to humankind, thirsty for the words of life.

Astrology 1. The study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs.
    www.thefreedictionary.com/astrology

Astronomy 1. The scientific study of matter in outer space, especially the positions, dimensions, distribution, motion, composition, energy, and evolution of celestial bodies and phenomena.
    www.thefreedictionary.com/astronomy

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Deuteronomy 18:10

Deuteronomy 17: 2-7: If there is found among you . . . a man who or woman who "does what is evil in the sight of the LORD your God . . . and "has gone and served other gods and worshipped them, or the sun "or the moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have forbidden ". . . . Then you shall bring forth to your gates that man or "woman and stone them to death with stones.

"This attitude was not a common one in the ancient world and, of course, not all Israelites were as obedient and as monotheistic as the biblical writers thought they should be. The authors of the historical and prophetic books of the Hebrew Bible often condemn their fellow Israelites for worshipping alien gods. And, as the passage just quoted tells us, the alien gods included the heavenly bodies. When Josiah reformed Judah's religion in the sixth century BCE, he found the sun, moon, and stars worshipped along with Baal and Asherah in YHWH's temple in Jerusalem. The sun even had horses and a chariot for his use in Solomon's temple. Likewise, as we saw in the last chapter, Baal and Asherah could also be astral deities."
    www.smoe.org/arcana/diss4.html

"He had the foreign cultic objects of Baal, Ashterah (or Asherah), "and all the hosts of the heavens" in Solomon's Temple destroyed. The living pagan priests were slaughtered and the bones of priests exhumed from their graves and burned on their altars -- which was viewed as an extreme act of desecration against these pagan deities by their adherents. (2 Kings 23:4, et seq.) The authors of Kings and Chronicles add to these acts in Jerusalem Josiah's similar destruction of altars and images belonging to pagan deities in the cities of the tribes of Manasseh, Ephraim, "and Simeon, as far as Naphtali" (2 Kings 23:8f);(2 Chr. 34:6f)."
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josiah

Quite a contrast to Cyrus who held the right hand of YHWH! Did Jesus go about having his disciples pull a wagon of stones that he could use to stone the people to death who broke a commandment of Moses? The law of good thoughts, words and deeds is more important than a written Mosaic code.

Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me, `Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?(NIV)

1 Cor 10:23 "Everything is permissible"-- but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"-- but not everything is constructive.(NIV)

Is Astrology beneficial and constructive? That depends on how one would use it. To me it is not a divination or prophecy of what will come, it studies the Influence of planetary fields of the solar system upon earth.

"The free-handed liberal ones unto him are those hurtful northern planets, whereof one is called by the astronomers the evil Saturn, which will destroy the constellation named Dol (Aquarius) in the religious writings, and which will work harm to mankind by reason of their evil understanding. And such a (priest) will imbue men with (a spirit of) disobedience to God and discontent, and will bring falsehood into their faith through their low-mindedness."

      Came across this at www.avesta.org/denkard/dk...tml#chap192

The text "Saturn, which will destroy the constellation named Dol (Aquarius) in the religious writings" is interesting. The "religious writings" of the Magi spoke of Saturn and Aquarius. If the Savior is symbolized in Aquarius, pooring forth the words of life, when Saturn had a special relation to this sign may have been a clue abouts the cutting off of the Lord, like
      Daniel mentioned.

        A ZOROASTRIAN FRAGMENT

"One of the most fascinating translation tidbits that has come out of Project Hindsight translations is a fragment derived from Gregory of Nicaea of an ancient Persian Zoroastrian assignment of co-inhabitants to the signs of the zodiac. If this fragment does indeed come from this ancient Persian group, it indicates that the ancient Zoroastrian priests apparently had a grasp of sidereal signs that could only be called contemporary.

And concerning zodiacal habitation, they say that it is divided into six domiciles in the following fashion: the domiciles of Kronos [Saturn] are Capricorn and Aquarius; of Zeus [Jupiter], Sagittarius and Pisces; of Ares [Mars], Scorpio and Aries; of Aphrodite [Venus], Libra and Taurus; of Hermes [Mercury], Virgo and Gemini; of the Sun, Leo and Cancer. The coinhabitants of these:

        Leo: Apollo with the Sun
In the proposed exaltation scheme above Apollo, lord of Gemini, is exalted in Leo.
Virgo: Muse [who inspired poetry and the arts] with Hermes
Virgo expresses the artistic as well as verbal side of Mercury
Libra: Anteros [brother of Eros, the god of love] with Aphrodite
Love is assigned to Libra (the exaltation of Saturn) whereas Desire is assigned to Taurus!
Scorpio: Ate [goddess of mischief and rash action] with Ares
Interesting that Ate is given to Scorpio but not to Aries!
Sagittarius: Hera [the faithful wife] with Zeus
This is a very suitable assignment for a sign that has to do with the structure of society.
Capricorn: Rhea [mother of Zeus, his brothers and sisters] with Kronos
Now what is fascinating is the assignment of the coinhabitants of the remaining six zodiac signs:
Aquarius: Artemis [who lived remote from mankind on mountain tops and forests] with Kronos
Artemis is not Uranus, but she shares the planet's quality of remoteness and individuality.
        Pisces: Posiedon [Neptune] with Zeus
        Today's assigned rulership to Pisces!
        Aries: Pluto with Ares
Pluto has been assigned to Aries by the western sidereal school.
Taurus: Imeros [god of desire] with Aphrodite
See the article on Taurus and the symbolism of the bull.
Gemini: Nephele [a phantom-like woman] with Hermes
Interesting in view of the alignment of Neptune with Gemini (above)
[There is no house of the Moon, but by sympathy, Leo and Cancer being the houses of the Sun, the Moon is coinhabitant of Cancer] (corrupt text restored by Robert Schmidt)
(CCAG 8, 3; 120-122: page 23 of The Astrological Record of the Early Sages in Greek, Project Hindsight, Volume X)

Note that the day signs of the planets are always listed first before the night signs in this fragment, and this listing survived even up to the time of Johannes Schoener (c. 1500 CE) who listed Virgo through Capricorn as the principal houses of planets and Aquarius through Gemini as the planets secondary houses.

It's intriguing that this ancient Zoroastrian text assigns the remote Artemis to Aquarius, Neptune to Pisces, with which all modern astrologers agree, and Pluto to Aries, the suggested sidereal co-lord of Aries. Robert Schmidt (PHASEWATCH, 1997) has suggested that the coinhabitants of each sign may be meant to bring out how the planet behaves in its different domiciles, so that Aphrodite may be mutual love in Libra, but desire in Taurus. It's also possible that the coinhabitants describe the characteristics of the signs themselves.

"The planets’ names that are familiar to us are of Latin origin, but each Roman god had a Greek counterpart. As a matter of fact, most Roman gods were simply abstract powers until names and personalities were adopted from the Greeks. Only then did the Roman gods become persons in their own right that the people could love, admire, fear or hate."
          Quote from the link above.

The symbols and names of the stars, constellations and planets people turned into "gods" - behind the symbolism, concepts of name and personality there is a tradition with meaning.

Coma - the symbol of Virgin Mary holding Jesus in her hand. The Greeks changes this to "Berenices Hair', modern Astronomy has combination sometimes - Coma Berenices.

" The ancient Zodiacs pictured this constellation as a woman with a child in her arms. ALBUMAZAR * (or ABU MASHER), an Arabian astronomer of the eighth century, says, "There arises in the first Decan **, as the Persians, Chaldeans, and Egyptians, and the two HERMES and ASCALIUS teach, a young woman whose Persian name denotes a pure virgin, sitting on a throne, nourishing an infant boy (the boy, I say), having a Hebrew name, by some nations called IHESU, with the signification IEZA, which in Greek is called CHRISTOS."
            * A Latin translation of his work is in the British Museum Library. He says the Persians understood these signs, but that the Indians perverted them with inventions.
** The constellations are called Decans. The word means a part, and is used of the three parts into which each sign is divided, each of which is occupied by a constellation.
But this picture is not found in any of the modern maps of the stars. There we find today a woman's wig! It appears that BERENICE, the wife of EUERGETES (PTOLEMY III), king of Egypt in the third century BC, when her husband once went on a dangerous expedition, vowed to consecrate her fine head of hair to Venus if he returned in safety. Her hair, which was hung up in the Temple of Venus, was subsequently stolen, and to comfort BERENICE, CONON, an astronomer of Alexandria (BC 283-222), gave it out that Jupiter had taken it and made it a constellation!
This is a good example of how the meaning of other constellations have been perverted (ignorantly or intentionally). In this case, as in others, the transition from ancient to more modern languages helped to hide the meaning. The Hebrew name was COMA (desired). But the Greeks had a word for hair, Co-me. this again is transferred to the Latin coma, and thus "Coma Berenice" (The hair of Berenice) comes down to us today as the name of this constellation, and gives us a woman's wig instead of that Blessed One, "the Desire of all Nations."
In this case, however we are able to give absolute proof that this is a perversion.
The ancient Egyptian name for this constellation was Shes-nu, the desired son!
The Zodiac in the Temple of Denderah, in Egypt, going back at least 2000 years BC, has no trace of any hair, but it has the figure of a woman and child."

"The early history of astrology is closely interrelated with the history of astronomy. Both may be studied separately, but the result may prove one-sided and one may fail to notice things of great consequence. The history of ancient astronomy must be treated jointly with the history of astrology, whose contribution to the history of science has often been underestimated. This situation has begun to change only recently. The number of academic publications suggests that in addition to ancient philosophy, mathematics and astronomy, more and more attention is being paid to ancient astrology, which has played an important role in the history of human thought."

"A closer look at the subject somewhat unexpectedly reveals that compared to other ancient practices ancient astrology complies more closely with modern scientific requirements. Some important scientific paradigms may in fact prove to originate in astrology. Considering this, we should not condone the practice of separating the history of astronomy and the history of astrology, as it is not in accordance with the principle of scientific objectivity nor the convictions of the authors, as both Lynn Thorndike (1929: 3-4) and Paul Feyeraend (1975) have warned. It appears that if we also took ancient astrology in consideration, the history of astronomy and of science in general would raise fewer question marks. The history of astronomy does not need to be revised and the lack of censorship will certainly not deprive it of its scientific dignity."

In the Preface of Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos under the footnotes is found
"'In the sphere of Persia, saith Aben Ezra, there ariseth upon the face of the sign Virgo a beautiful maiden, she holding two ears of corn in her hand, and a child in her arm: she feedeth him, and giveth him suck, &c. This maiden,' saith Albumazar, 'we call Adrenedefa, the pure Virgin. She bringeth up a child in a place which is called Abrie [the Hebrew land], and the child's name is called Eisi [Jesus].' This made Albertus Magnus believe that our Saviour, Christ, was born in Virgo; and therefore Cardinal Alliac, erecting our Lord's nativity by his description, casteth this sign into the horoscope. But the meaning of Albumazar was, saith Friar Bacon, that the said virgin was born, the Sun being in that sign, and so it is noted in the calendar; and that she was to bring up her son in the Hebrew land. [Mr. John Gregory's Notes on various Passages of Scripture.]"--Ancient Universal History, vol. 5, pp. 415 to 419."

"There are two different zodiacs and because they use the same names Aries, Taurus, Gemini etc there is enormous confusion around them. My answer (an answer) to the above mentioned question will be considered from different perspectives.

I will start with two quotes from indigenous peoples in diametrically opposite parts of the world.

"Everything under creation is represented in the soil and in the stars. Everything has two witnesses, one on earth and one in the sky... Everything is represented in the ground and in the sky." (Australian Ngarinyin Elder David Mowaljarlai).
Wakan Tanka placed the stars in such a manner so what is in the heavens is on earth, what is on earth is in the heavens in the same way. When we pray in this manner, what is done in the skies is done on earth in the same way. Together, all of creation participates in the ceremonies every year.” (North American Lakota Chief Black Elk).

We have all heard variations of the following quote:

"That which is below is like that which is above & that which is above is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing.."

It comes from an Isaac Newton translation of the Emerald Tablet, an ancient text of the teachings of Hermes the Thrice-Great, the inspirer of the Egyptian culture.

I will now take a different tack.

In a nutshell a technical definition could be:

The Tropical Zodiac is the position of the sun referenced against the earth’s horizon at a particular locale which gives you the seasons as a measure of the flow of time. The framework for the seasons is the solstices and equinoxes.

The Sidereal Zodiac is the position of the sun referenced against the star background, as a measure of the flow of time. The framework for the star background is the constellations the sun passes in front of.

We can measure time by the seasons (tropical time) or by the stars (sidereal time). The sun is common to both."

"Most of today's common knowledge of the constellations, even among renowned astronomers and so called astrologers, is totally devoid of the awesome spectacle of love and redemption which God has recorded in the heavens through the ancient zodiac. In fact, the word zodiac comes from the ancient word Zoa, which means "the path" or "the way." How wondrous is God's love that moved Him to record His word in the heavens, so that all could see.

If God made the stars, and they are for "signs" (Gen. 1:14), it is logical to ask, "What are the signs He is talking about?" The wise men (magi) from the east who visited the young child Jesus must have been very assured of the signs that they read in the heavens. They were convinced enough of the star they observed in the east to travel a great distance by camel. These wise men were priests from the country where Daniel and the children of Israel had been led captive. Their culture was schooled in the study of the stars. Daniel was made chief and master over all the wise men and astrologers of Babylon (Daniel 2:48 and 5:11). Daniel could have identified to these priests the promise of the coming Messiah to be born of the tribe of Judah, and out of the house of David.

God had promised a redeemer for fallen man. He first wrote His promise in pictures in the heavens. These pictures told the story in great detail. The promised redeemer, the Messiah, the desired of all nations, the coming branch, would be born of a virgin. Satan would bruise his heel, but the redeemer would crush Satan's head (Genesis 3:15). This is the story the constellations give us!"

                              1. INTRODUCTION

Is it legal to be an astrologer? Astrology is rare as any art, even more secret than music. As there were not many composers in the past, so the number of astrologer is perhaps five or less. Thus, it is probably legal to be an astrologer. Johan Sebastian Bach is a sublime example of religious excellence. Astrologers were much as Bach, unique in their art and religious to the core. When *GOD* pronounced the sentence against Chaldean art, it was clear that primitive people could not handle precession. Lingering superstition does not account for astronomic changes such as the precession of the ascendant1.

                              2. OBSERVATIONS

Europe never had any astrology at all, while India kept to the old ways. Chinese astronomy was damaged by communism, but still stands as valuable equatorial alternative to Indian systems. It is clear that astrology has degraded to superstition at hands of Newton, Nostradamus and Kepler. There is still lingering belief in fixed ascendants, which are equaled to the zodiacal signs. With two signs of error people consciously believe in their wrong natal sun sign. The swindle is legal as you are warned that we are late for precession and the alike, then a figure of 24 degrees is flashed at you and all is forgotten. Solution seems to wave from the Indian continent but this is not true. The flowery as well as imaginative ways of Indian astrology must confirm to astronomical laws, which is not the case. We complimented Sai Baba with his birthday. He was born on November 23rd when the Sun is still in Libra. His observatory can confirm to that. It is all written in the stars. Thus, albeit your natal Sun is in Virgo, you believe that you are a “Scorpio”. That is, two signs of error, since Libra separates Scorpius from Virgo2. Astrology is not a forgotten art as it is fostered within such institutions as NASA and Harvard PC. This astrology is called astronomy. The astronomers determine the real position of the planets. There is no dispute about this since astrologers have to go somewhere for their data and they go to NASA. The best integrator developed fro the NASA model is Solex by Aldo Vitagliano. SOLEX is the basis of good astrological programs3. Although such programs mangle all data fro purpose of superstition, sometimes authors allow for modest planetarium simulation as well as true ephemeris of the planets. An example of such program that is readily available and capable of showing the real position of the planets is Astrolog.

                              3. DATA REDUCTION

The best approach to astrology is to sit back and observe the eastern constellations as they rise. When the U.S.A. was giving birth to a nation, Serpens rose over Philadelphia with Aquila following. The spread-eagle is thus chosen by our Masonic ancestors as the symbol of the new nation. Aquila happens to rise in the horoscope of Carl Gustav Jung, whose guru was Adler4.
                              4. MODEL

The results of our research are enlisted as follow.

That the Earth hangs in thin air was known to the ancients, otherwise it would not be stated in the Bible. Thus to have earth hanging in space is a Biblical fact, much as its roundness is expressed in Isaiah. Note that “circle” can be traduced as “globe” as commentators have5.
Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a gauze
Astronomy is in fact fostered by GOD who encourages the use of constellation for the measurement of seasons. Much as in the times of Cyrus the Great of Persia, messiah of *GOD*, kinship between monotheistic religions require accurate astronomy. The Zoroastrian roots of monotheism are obvious in the Holy Bible especially as associated with Cyrus who saved the Hebrew from the hands of Babylonia. Thus, modern Israel owes its very existence to Iran (sic).
Astronomers all over the world agree on rising stars and constellations. It is best to ask them in “shoot the expert” fashion. Your local astrologer is perfectly incapable of determining one’s own natal position of the sun, but such people tend to give lecture.
The world is a better place when we know the proper data about ourselves. The eastern star is the guardian angel as occult doctrine wants and this time European experts will agree. Theurgy has facilitating models like Bardon and Steinar, with 360 “heads” or angels of the degree in order to account for the ecliptic ascendant. The ecliptic ascendant for the U.S.A. is e.g. Ophiuchus.

                              5. DISCUSSION

The zodiac has 21 constellations because the Moon is not a planet6, however for astrological purpose we have 22 zodiacal constellations. This is very convenient as comparing to the previous models which had even over 40 constellations. With Pluto out of the system, our zodiac is much more applicable to incipient astrological study.

                              6. SUMMARY

The study of the zodiac is legal as concern religion, in that it answers to the real position of the planets in the sky. Superstition is banned as pertaining to the damned7. The 12 tribes of Israel are aligned for salvation as heaven rolls back as a scroll in Eridanus constellation. Eridanus is an ascendant between Taurus and Orion as present in rare horoscopes8. The WAP cold spot is the hub of apocalyptic astrology that has even more importance for our time than Cetus precession9 or the star gates10.

                              Pro 8:27 When he prepared the heavens I was there; when he ordained the circle upon the face of the deep;

1 Note that we don not use “precession of the meridian”. The meridian constellations are a separate field of research as omitted from this short treatise.
2 Zodiacally speaking. As concern the ascendant set, Scorpius and Libra do not rise at due east for this epoch, thus there is no problem with Scorpius or Libra ascendants simply because there are no such ascendants at the present time.
3 The best astrological program is, however, an astronomical program, like SKYGLOBE. It took minutes to set the basis for zodiacal operation on SKYGLOBE on a DOS i386 4Mb RAM/20 Mb HD. Simulations were run in DOSSHELL, also on Dance of the Planets by ARC Software.
4 Note that neighboring Scutum is zodiacal but not presently ascendental. Venus in Scutum can not be at the ascendant.
5 We use Darby Bible by default, with Fausset commentaries.
6 It was proposed that the Moon be planet, however NASA dismissed such proposition.
7 With 144 000 Hebrew survivors. The signs of the times are here, giant comets (Wild), holes in the sky (Witchallow), but superstition is from the devil and will keep billions of eyes closed as Uranus enters Cetus towards Mayan 2011.
8 If Eridanus is rare, then Taurus must be unique, because rising only 5 minutes every day.

There is one statement of Jesus that puts everything concering the law and prophets in perspective to me, no matter what those who quote those texts may claim they say -
" Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
