Last night after my class lecture I began talking about the future Forever Faire Primitive Skill and Herbal Fest. The majority of the class weren't really clear on what I meant by primitive skills. I explained that the class I was teaching was a primitive skills as compared with other herbal schools. Then I brought out Joe's knife I call the Root Dagger. One of my students went out side and popped out a weed with it. They were surprised that metal could be shaped with charcoal briquets, a bucket of oil, and a hammer.
This got into the premise of Forever Faire...so a couple of the cute young things (two asian girls I can't tell apart), decided to live without power for a few days. That means no food out of the fridge. Cooking on a grill. No internet. Only a crank up radio. Washing clothes with bar soap in a tub. Using their bikes for transport...which they do anyways....no cell phones....candle light or flashlight power...no going to the store...you get the picture.
They asked to borrow the knife to dig burdock. I kindly said no. Some things are too important to part with.
I wonder if these two will join us next year?

Sat, June 27, 2009 - 12:05 PMIf you could get an idea what people would pay for them, kinda an informal survay that would be awsome.
