Workshops with Amara - May 4

Amara will be teaching 2 workshops in San Diego
May 4

12:30-2:30
Workshop I - Dynamic Combinations for Any Kind of Music

Amara will drill a series of short combinations focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, isolation, and layering. Then we will rework the combinations by changing their speed, size, and quality (gooey, sharp, and shimmies) in order to assist in our visual presentation of any kind of music.
These combinations and exercises can be applied to create both choreographies and improvisations.

2:45-4:45
Workshop II - Fusion Techniques
Amara takes a unique approach to this emerging form as she presents techniques and tools on how to create Fusion with ANY dance form. Learn the differences between sequential and simultaneous fusion concepts, explore where to find various dance elements to fuse, and discuss issues of when and why to fuse.
Fusion is a great way to add to your current vocabulary, foster creativity, and push your dancing to new heights.

This workshop is appropriate for all levels and all dance forms.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this weekend's Arabesque Belly Dancing Competition! It was the first time Reza put something like this together, and I know it was frustrating at times and long, but he promises that next year everything will be smooth and organized. He's really a nice man and I know that next year will be even bigger and better!

He's not on tribe, so I'll take this time to thank all the workshop instructors, performers, judges, volunteers and contestants for him. Everyone did a great job, and I hope to see all of you again next year!

Sabrina Belly Dancer San Diego MECDA Event

Hi all,

Sabrina Belly Dancer needs to contact us regarding a proposed event she is planning on Sept 30, 2007 as a MECDA event.
None of the current officers kow of the event or how funds will be directed to MECDA from vendors fees etc.

I am glad to have Sabrina's interest and believe that she is trying to promote chapter activity in SD.

I think we are all for that but anytime funds (such as vendor fees, admissions) are concerned, there are guidlines to follow.

If anyone has a phone number for Sabrina Belly Dancer, please let me know.

I am a little gun shy following our previous experience.

Thanks,
Patrisha , President MECDA SD

Try again to get this Chapter moving?

Hey all,

We are willing to try again to get the SD MECDA chapter up and running.

There was a problem with the previous (Before me) people helping themselves to the non-profit bank account after they had supposedily signed off (you know know who you are and what you did)

That stopped anything we wanted to do as there was no money left in kiddy.

Steps are being taken by central board to recover the funds but in the meantime, its been slow going.

I would like to know if there is any interest in getting together for DVD nites or dance lectures or mini-workshops.

Please let me know and apologies for not making this known sooner. I was in hopes the person who took the funds would replace them and avoid all the legal hassels that taking money from a non-proft organization will bring.

Hope to hear from someone,

Thanks,
Patrisha
Pres/ SD MECDA
