Hello everyone!
This is my first post here so my apologies if I am repeating things that have been posted before...
I am really interested to learn more about the fine differences in all the egyptian styles, the exact moves, significant hand postures, cultural background, etc... Does anyone know of a good DVD?

  • I found Keti Sharif's DVD's to be most helpful......

    • Sarita,
thank you thank you thank you!
It looks like the set of 5 DVD's is closest to what I would like:

      1. Music & Instruments.. 2. Classical Oriental Dance
      3. Folkloric Dances of Egypt..4. Modern ..5.Tabla Solo

"Filmed in Cairo, this set is a complete guide to Egyptian musical instruments, movements and styles. Keti's series is designed to teach musical understanding for bellydance, rhythmic interpretation, dance movements and techniques relative to style and genre. See routines, choreographies and Keti's live performance in costume. Plus documentary footage of Egyptian performers, and 'how-to-do' explanations. Each video 1 hour - note: 5 parts filmed as a full follow-on series. Suits all levels."
      Plus a free cd.
And all the reviews seem to be great!
